Purpose of this role
To provide holistic financial planning advice to clients, by identifying their investment and lifestyle needs and objectives. To identify new business opportunities within existing and potential client bases. To develop and implement strategies and manage relationships with key personnel within assigned corporate accounts.
Key performance areas
- Develop and implement strategies to obtain and manage business opportunities arising within assigned Corporate accounts
- Manage and strengthen relationships with key staff in assigned Corporates
- Source new business from retained clients and by means of referrals
- Support AF’s client related strategies and deliver key goals
- Ensure that the client’s investment portfolio is consistent with FPC’s investment philosophy
- Provide the client with information on the performance of the various investment portfolios available
- Identify a client’s investment needs, risk tolerance and profile, other investments (and other assets), personal circumstances, income requirements, investment time horizon etc
- Make a recommendation based on the risk questionnaire and subsequent discussions in line with Financial Planning Consultants houseviews.
- Completed recommendation within agreed turnaround times
- Provide the client with information on the performance of the various investment portfolios available
- Provide the necessary DCipher report and or recommendations as well as a verbal or written explanation of the investment return.
- Educate the clients with regards to basic investment principles, i.e. risk versus reward, market sentiment, trends, performance (offshore and local), benchmarks etc
- Provide holistic financial planning services (including investments, risk cover and estate planning) to clients
- Resolve client concerns, queries and/or complaints
Education and Experience
- Matric
- RE5
- Tertiary qualification , i.e. BCom (majors in Financial Management or Financial Planning or Investments)
- CFP
- Advanced FP qualification , Diploma in Tax / Estate Planning etc (an advantage)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial advisory role.

We are looking for a vibrant Assistant Consultant to complement our Durban Environmental team. The candidate will primarily provide support on environmental projects, including environmental authorization procedures (Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Water Licensing, and Waste Licensing etc.), stakeholder engagement/public participation, and compliance auditing. The candidate will also be required to support the other specialist teams within WSP, including air quality, water services, contaminated land, and geotechnical services as required.

- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm

Key Competencies and Generic Skills:
- Between 1 and 5 years ’ experience in Basic Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management Plans and Compliance Auditing projects
- Experience in the renewable, industrial and/or mining sector
- Good working knowledge of the South African environmental legislation
- Understanding of broader environmental and social issues (i.e. air quality, waste management, ecological, social, etc.)
- Ability to travel in Sub Sahara Africa (outside of South Africa) if required
- Technical report writing skills, producing professional reports in fluent English
- Project management skills
- Must be computer literate
- Able to work independently
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Good organisation skills
Strong preference will be given to:
