We're looking for a true culinary leader to head up the kitchen at our vibey restaurant in the heart of Vredehoek. Our style? Elevated street food from around the world – bold flavours, beautiful plating, and a fast-paced, feel-good energy.
This is not your average Head Chef gig. We're after someone who's ready to lead from the front, bring creative fire to the pass, and take pride in building a clean, efficient, happy kitchen.
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years' experience running a kitchen as Head Chef.
- Strong culinary creativity – you must be able to plan, cost, and execute daily specials for our ever-changing specials board. This has been a challenge in the past, so only apply if you love the pressure of daily innovation.
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, weekdays – flexibility is key. Nights are non-negotiable.
- A true team leader – someone who sets the tone with discipline, respect, and care.
- A chef who doesn't hide in the office. You must be hands-on – prepping, cooking, running the pass, and actively involved in service.
- Open to daily feedback from the GM and Owners – collaboration is essential here.
- High standards in kitchen hygiene, prep systems (FIFO, dating, labelling), and maintaining a visually pristine open kitchen at all times.
- A natural sense of urgency, organisation, and ability to create and manage cleaning schedules.
- A desire to educate and upskill your team – we want someone who builds others up.
- Calm under pressure – no shouting or chaos in our open kitchen.
- A deep passion for food and flavour that oozes out onto every plate.
