Purpose Statement

  • To be the custodian of the integrated marketing plan, understand Capitec’s market and clients’ needs and act as an advisor to internal business stakeholders.
  • To meet business objectives through acquiring and optimising quality clients.
  • To develop effective integrated marketing strategies and plans in order to deliver the right message, to the right client, at the right time and on the right platform for our products and services.

Experience

Minimum:

  • 5+ years marketing experience in a large, complex and client focussed organisation
  • Managing a team

Ideal:

  • Experience gained preferably in an FMCG, retail banking or services industry.
  • Cross functional project coordination / management

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Business Management

We’re seeking a skilled Marketing Manager to lead the full onsite marketing function for our retail property portfolio. Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Strategy & Budgeting
    • Develop and implement the Centre’s annual marketing strategy and budget in line with business objectives.
    • Manage daily execution of marketing activities, campaigns, and brand initiatives.
    • Track, control, and report on marketing expenditure.
  • Brand Management & Advertising
    • Act as brand custodian for the Centre, ensuring consistency across campaigns, events, and communications.
    • Develop creative campaigns, oversee production, and manage advertising media planning and bookings.
    • Maintain systematic records of all marketing assets, creative work, and campaign history.
  • Promotions & Events
    • Plan and implement annual, seasonal, and event-based campaigns to boost footfall, dwell time, and tenant turnover.
    • Secure sponsorships and partnerships to enhance event budgets.
    • Ensure events strengthen brand awareness and align with Centre objectives.
  • Digital & Social Media
    • Oversee digital strategy across social platforms, apps, and website.
    • Drive engagement through effective social media management (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook).
    • Implement strategies to optimise digital platforms and shopper interaction.
  • Public Relations & Communications
    • Develop and implement PR and crisis communication strategies.
    • Manage press releases, media relations, and publicity to maximise Centre exposure.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts.
  • Exhibitions & Media Sales
    • Manage indoor/outdoor advertising and exhibitions to maximise sundry income.
    • Ensure displays, activations, and sales meet Centre standards and brand requirements.
    • Oversee external media agency SLAs and ensure revenue targets are met.
  • CSI & Tenant Engagement
    • Develop and deliver the Centre’s CSI strategy and related initiatives.
    • Drive tenant relationship programmes, including newsletters, training workshops, inductions, and promotional support.
    • Coordinate awards programmes and service audits to strengthen retailer partnerships.
  • Reporting & Research
    • Submit detailed monthly reports for owners and senior management.
    • Commission and oversee research, surveys, and focus groups to inform strategy.
    • Use insights to refine campaigns, improve tenant engagement, and identify retail trends.
Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Marketing Manager in a retail/shopping centre environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience
  • Strong track record in developing and executing marketing strategies and budgets
  • Solid background in digital marketing, PR, and brand management
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Creative, strategic thinker with attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong leadership skills with proven team and stakeholder management experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); digital platforms and CRM knowledge advantageous

Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • To create and execute multi-channel acquisition and retention marketing strategies to enhance customer loyalty, retention, frequency and lifetime value
  • Oversee SEO, PPC, social media, email marketing and content marketing efforts.
  • Monitor and optimise the performance of campaigns through data analytics based on KPI's, conversion rates and ROI
  • Work with the brand manager to maintain and enhance brand perception
  • Manage advertising budgets and media buying and placement (Google, TikTok, Meta, Radio, etc)
  • Plan discounts, promotions and events to boost sales
  • Implement strategy built by the executive team:

Sales Support

  • Ensure sales pipeline management to achieve overall merchant and ad revenue goals.
  • Oversee merchant onboarding and key account management
  • Attend, support and present product offerings to prospective brands and merchants
  • Ensure adequate new merchants and B2B business, in line with overall organisational goals
  • Commercial Alignment by:
    • Collaborate closely with Commercial and Finance teams to optimise marketing spend.

People Management

  • Manage and coordinate marketing and business development teams

About the role

To initiate, plan and achieve Haleon’s ambition of becoming one of the most innovative, best performing, and trusted Consumer Healthcare Companies in South Africa. To plan, direct and co-ordinate all strategic and marketing activities of the portfolio of brands the person is responsible for, to achieve consumption growth, sales, profit, and marketing objectives.

Key responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities :

Strategic Planning

  • In order that the overall company and strategic brand objectives are achieved, delivers, and executes strategic long, medium- and short-term plans for brands by:
  • Developing strategies that will deliver the 3-year consumption, sales, profit, and marketing objectives for the categories.
  • Analysing past performance, economic variables etc. against the backdrop of world-wide portfolio, growth, and profit objectives, in collaboration with BU/Category Teams.
  • Ensure development and execution of detailed 1-year plans for all the brands in the category which will ensure the achievement of strategic objectives, in partnership with BU/Category Teams and aligned agencies.

Operational Execution:

  • In order that plans are successfully implemented, and commercial and business objectives are met, directs and co-ordinates the implementation and achievement of agreed plans by:
  • Providing advice and direction for Brand Team
  • Embedding continuous learning from successes and failures
  • Initiating and coordinating progress on all projects
  • Facilitating implementation with other functions within the organisation as well as with aligned agencies.

Data & Analytics:

  • To determine potential impact on plans as well as identify future opportunities, monitor, analyse and evaluate marketplace developments relating to:
  • Own and competitive developments
  • Sales and supply chain performance
  • Consumer, Expert and Customer behaviour

Agility

  • Adapts/replans to accommodate deviations / changes in market conditions by devising and implementing new action plans, to ensure the brands, retain their competitive advantage.

Team Effectiveness

  • Maintain the highest standards of team effectiveness within the team, across functions and with BU/Category Team.

People Leadership:

  • Coach and develop direct reports
  • Motivate and support the team through appropriate reward and recognition programmes
  • Identifying training and development needs via the regular check-ins
  • Foster open an honest style within the team
  • Ensure that all team members always act professionally and set the appropriate example
  • Create and encourage an innovative team climate which results in superior performance
  • Demonstrate performance driven leadership and enterprise thinking
  • Input into talent review and career succession planning process for their team
  • Drive commercial understanding across Sales, Commercial Excellence and Finance
  • Use Haleon values and behaviours to drive actions and decisions, role model values and behaviours

Business Leadership

  • To ensure that overall strategic objectives are met carry out marketing leadership duties by:
  • Working within budget parameters
  • Monitoring progress towards achieving annual personal objectives
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, peers, marketing and other departments
  • Providing input into overall planning of business
  • Consulting and working with other functions and departments to address and resolve issues such as distribution, production, R&D, sales performance, etc.
  • Liaising with the BU/Category organisation regarding best practices, global strategies, R&D etc.
  • Develop a loyal consumer franchise for the company’s brands by creating positive brand perceptions, associations, and usage experiences, through tools such as advertising, promotion and supply chain management, in order to build strong brands and ensure the long-term profitability of the company.

Corporate Governance

  • In-depth knowledge of products.
  • Understand and abide by Haleon policies and procedures.
  • Conduct Management Monitoring
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, peers, marketing and other departments
  • Use our values and expectations to drive actions and decisions, role model values and expectations

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Business
  • 10 years experience in a similar environment relating to Pharma/FMCG
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing brand strategies that will deliver long term strategic and profit objectives as well as grow and nurture strong brands.
  • Liaises closely with BU/category role players within Haleon regarding best practices, global strategies, R&D etc.
  • Work closely with Marketing Director and takes responsibility for the development and implementation of all marketing-related aspects of the ABP for the category.

Preferred

  • Understands and abides by Haleon policies and procedures, conducts Management Monitoring
  • Uses our values and behaviours to drive actions and decisions and role models values and behaviours.
  • Good understanding of the complex economic and socio-political environment in S.A. to successfully formulate strategies within these constraints.
  • Establishing Innovation pipeline and launches.
  • Data Driven Marketing transformation within the market.
