Job Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Career Advisor, who will be required to travel to schools for marketing and brand promotion of iStudent Academy in the KZN region. The Employee will receive a basic monthly salary, as well as commission on sales. The Employee will be based at our PMB Campus when they are not travelling to exhibit.

Employee's main responsibility will be to market and sell the brand of iStudent Academy and our courses to Matriculated students and any other interested clientele, collect a database of interested learners from schools around KZN, and present our offerings in a positive and informative manner.

The Employee must work consistently to achieve registration targets – this will be commission driven.

Employee will also be required to fulfill general administrative roles of a Student Advisor. This will include data capturing, liaising with schools and clients to make appointments, Open Days, public speaking, documentation delivery to prospective learners and other responsibilities allocated by the Departmental Manager.

Key Responsibilities of the Position

  • Schools/Expos bookings
  • Calendar management – booking meetings and exhibitions or presentations
  • Attending schools/expos/presentations and presenting iStudent Academy course offering
  • Collect data of interested learners
  • Data capturing – Data from expos/schools, marks, attendance etc
  • Following up with potential students via CRM Database
  • CRM Database maintenance – calls, emails, SMS, WhatsApp communication with students and parent, updating CRM with comment updates etc
  • Making appointments between students/parents and consultant
  • Bookings for workshops and open days
  • Sending interested learners information
  • Get students to register for our courses
  • Ensure Registration process is completed correctly

Qualifying Criteria

  • Driver's License essential
  • Friendly, fun, confident, bubbly personality, not afraid to speak to new people and parents of students
  • Professional communication and language skills – professional email writing skills
  • Excellent telephonic skills
  • Fully Computer Literate

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Student Engagement & Program Management

· Administer career services programming and placement initiatives for an assigned caseload of IT bootcamp students.

· Deliver topical, cohort-based educational/Q&A sessions.

· Onboard and educate assigned caseload on Career Services' suite of tools, including Prentus; Enhancv; Pepelwerk; Stellarworx.

· Conduct 1:1 coaching sessions for assigned caseload including, but not limited to goal setting; LinkedIn profile development; resume guidance; career path mapping; interview prep, practice, and debrief; introductions; and general job search support.

· Assist students in setting goals and provide consistent accountability for active participation in programming to ensure activity level supports goal attainment and QuickStart placement goals.

· Review assigned Jobseeker profiles to determine readiness for talent portal visibility.

· Actively seek opportunities to refer or recommend assigned Jobseekers for job opportunities, utilizing employer partners and own professional network.

· Maintain relationships with assigned caseload beyond placement, inviting & encouraging alumni to remain engaged in Prentus talent community and providing ongoing career support and guidance as requested with a goal of one alumni mentor signup per month.

· Monitor and track student and alumni outcomes, updating records, collecting satisfaction data/testimonial and ensuring that the career services program is meeting the needs of the community.

· Conduct follow-up meetings with each alum and corresponding employer within 3 months of hire to track outcomes & satisfaction.

Partner/Employer Outreach

· Initiate and maintain communication with employers/partners to strengthen relationship, increase engagement, maximize mutual benefits of the partnership, and increase overall placement rate.

· Engage employers and industry partners receptive/committed to hiring bootcamp candidates.

· Actively promote assigned students to partners & employers utilizing Prentus and other available tools.

· Actively develop and maintain a database of potential employers, tracking engagement and outcomes to inform future outreach efforts.

Team Collaboration

· Attend and participate in team meetings, providing updates on career services program goals and outcomes, and collaborating with team members to achieve overall goals.

· Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, alumni, and community partners, to advance the career services program goals.

· Maintain updated notes on each assigned jobseeker and each student interaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Management or Human Resources
  • In-depth familiarity and experience with LinkedIn (both profiles and capabilities)
  • Experience and comfort with presenting live virtual educational sessions
  • 2+ years of experience in coaching (life, career, business) or counseling
  • At least 1 year of successful experience working remotely in a customer-facing role with a relationship-based orientation (what we do is NOT transactional)
  • Customer service experience is a big plus, as is experience in a fast-paced, constantly shifting environment
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparation of students for career and work readiness

  • Advises students on Career Services Portal offerings: interactive career resources and tools, e-learning content and self-awareness assessments
  • Guides and advises on, but not limited to CV design, interview preparation, job search strategies, and general career support
  • Offers one-on-one career consultations, assisting students in gaining self-awareness and work readiness skills in conjunction with the Career Services Portal
  • Designs and presents a range of interactive workshops in relation to career and work readiness
  • Hosts Industry Insights workshops and employer showcases where industry leaders speak and provide students with valuable industry exposure

  • Ensures sufficient students have accessed and engaged with the Emeris Career Services Portal by marketing the Career Services Portal and the Career Services App to students
  • Uploads and promotes student and graduate job opportunities onto the Career Services Portal job directory
  • Upskills, leads and empowers the Career Services Ambassador team to market Career Services and its platform to the student body
  • Co-ordinates and hosts career evenings / afternoon and Ready to Launch workshops for final year students
  • Co-ordinates and hosts career fairs and part time/industry immersion expos for students and alumni
  • Co-ordinates and hosts the annual Career Services Client Treat for clients
  • Co-ordinates and hosts student entrepreneurship initiatives

Networking

  • Establishes and maintains relations with all clients
  • Ensures and enables clear and open communication between the clients and Career Services
  • Conducts regular meetings with clients
  • Always ensures compliance to the corporate identity
  • Attends and participates in networking forums resulting in the increased awareness of quality graduates
  • Identifies businesses/organisations to partner with and actively seeks job opportunities that are in-line with the qualifications we offer
  • Markets the brand and demonstrates the value of recruiting through the Career Services

Recruitment of Students and Alumni

  • Facilitates employer access to student and graduate talent through advertising opportunities on the Career Services Portal, ensuring opportunities are visible, accessible, and aligned with student career pathways.
  • Obtains recommendations from lecturers on suitable student candidates
  • Tracks and monitors applications submitted through the platform to support evidence-based reporting on student and graduate engagement.
  • Liaises with employers throughout the recruitment process to maintain strong partnerships, ensure a positive candidate experience, and strengthen the institution's reputation as a source of real-world ready graduates.

Alumni

  • Collaborates with and supports the Alumni Relations office on key alumni events such as the Alumni Connect Evening
  • Works closely with the Alumni Relations office to market and promote the Career Services Portal to alumni
  • Works closely with the Alumni Relations office to provide career support to alumni that need support

The Career Centre Officer is accountable for the management of the campus career centre including business development, workshop management, staff management, and graduate placements by setting and monitoring the achievement of targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Management of the Campus Career Centre

Placements and Success Stories

  • Monitor and update the graduate placement worksheet
  • Monitor the placement process of prospective roles identified with potential clients
  • Support graduates during the placement process
  • Follow up with employer at the end of graduate's first day of work
  • Follow up with employer after two to four weeks after employment
  • Deliver presentation pack to prospective employers who have placed our graduates

Career Day and Entrepreneurship Workshops

  • Plan and execute Campus Career Days, Entrepreneurship workshops and Career Expos
  • Arrange guest speakers and manage logistics regarding these events and workshops.

  • Profile all entrepreneurs and compile a database for all graduates who attended the entrepreneurship workshop

Campus Visibility

  • Manage that success stories and events hosted by Career Services are posted on the visibility boards
  • Monitor and manage that part time jobs and any info related to employability are posted on the visibility boards
  • Enhance the visibility of Career Centre Services on Campus & the Career Centre office is equipped with information for students
  • Enhance the student Support and Career Services visibility on Campus
  • Manage the advertisement of career services activities on campus
  • Monitor involvement of the team in all campus activities

Reporting

  • Compile reports and submit to the National Career Services Manager, Campus Head & National Career Operations Officer.

People Management

  • Drive a high-performance culture by taking accountability for an effective and well-articulated performance management process
  • Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary
  • Providing strategic guidance in the implementation of human resources policies, procedures and practices
  • Lead the department by managing appointments, promotions, and industrial relations issues in conjunction with the Human Resources Support Service Unit
  • Build a robust, effective leadership pipeline, succession and capacity

Educational Requirements:

  • Relevant 3-year Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Human Resources or Related Qualification

Work Experience:

  • 3 years experience in Career Services Management

EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in customer success, customer service, recruitment and placement or a related role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proven track record of managing and administering customer success/service/engagement programmes.
