Position: Service Advisor
Location: Midrand, JHB
Reports to: Service Manager
Job Summary:
The Service Advisor acts as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. They ensure excellent customer service by understanding client needs, recommending necessary vehicle maintenance and repairs, and coordinating with the workshop team to ensure efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Communication
Assess customer service needs.
Explain service options, costs, and estimated time for completion.
Keep customers updated on the progress of their vehicle repairs.
Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
Service Coordination & Administration
Schedule service appointments and manage the service calendar.
Create job cards detailing customer requests and vehicle issues.
Liaise with technicians to ensure proper diagnosis and service completion.
Ensure all repair work is properly documented and invoiced.
Conduct follow-ups with customers after service completion to ensure satisfaction.
Technical & Product Knowledge
Explain vehicle service and repair requirements to customers in a clear and professional manner.
Stay updated on vehicle models, service guidelines, and warranty policies.
Provide guidance on preventive maintenance and recommended service intervals.
Sales & Upselling
Promote additional services and repairs based on vehicle inspections.
Advise customers on warranties, maintenance plans, and service promotions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum (X) years of experience in an automotive service advisor role.
Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficiency in (relevant software, e.g., automotive CRM systems).
Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced service environment.
Interaction with customers, technicians, and suppliers daily.
May require occasional overtime or weekend work.

- Technical Consultation:
- Provide customers with detailed explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance, using clear and non-technical language.
- Advise customers on preventive maintenance and service intervals to promote vehicle longevity and performance.
- Sales and Upselling:
- Identify additional service opportunities and recommend products and services that enhance vehicle performance and customer satisfaction.
- Promote service packages, warranties, and parts to customers.
- Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of all service transactions and customer interactions.
- Ensure Accurate Warranty capturing
- Process payments and ensure all financial documentation is completed accurately.
- Handle customer complaints and concerns with professionalism and in accordance with dealership policies.
- Matric (Grade 12) essential
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Minimum 2 -3 years Service Advisor or Customer Service or parts sales & admin experience in an Automotive workshop/dealership/Panelshop
- Strong computer skills - Computer Literate (MS Office Suite)
- Excellent Customer Service
- Completed Certificated Service Advisor training Advantageous
- Previous experience as an automotive technician Advantageous
- CRM knowledge Evolve Advantageous
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other technicians and engineers.
- Strong knowledge of warranty policies and an eye for upselling opportunities.
- Own transport with valid driver's license and clean driving record
