Minimum Qualifications & Experience :

  • Qualified Motor Mechanic with Trade Test (A-grade).
  • 3+ years’ experience in servicing and repairs in a dealership environment.
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding experience with the use of OEM diagnostic tools.
  • Exposure to OEM maintenance systems, repair manuals, and service protocols.
  • Must have own tools – a tool list will be provided with requirements
  • Technical & Other Skills :

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Proficient in visual inspections, fluid servicing, calibrations, and replacement of wear components.
  • Capable of minor and defined major repairs (e.g., suspension struts, principal components).
  • Accurate completion of job cards and timekeeping.

    Position Summary

    The Automotive Technician plays a pivotal role within our automotive service team. As a vital member, you learn and develop foundational skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, this role involves hands-on learning to address various automotive systems and services. Automotive Technicians participate in routine inspections, contribute to vehicle assessments, and assist in repair procedures. Additionally, Automotive Technicians may interact with customers to explain repair procedures, answer inquiries, and provide exceptional service. Overall, this role demands a combination of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals to build a solid foundation in automotive repair while contributing to the overall success of our team.

    Pay Range: $7.00 - 25.50

    Responsibilities
    • Change oil and perform other scheduled maintenance services.

    • Perform inspections of steering, suspension, and brake systems.

    • Install batteries and check electrical systems.

    • Perform tire maintenance.

    • Install parts.

    • Road test vehicles.

    • Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certifications in at least one of A1 – A8 within first two years of employment (Tests and registrations fees are paid for by company pass or fail. Technicians receive bonus for each test passed)

    • Perform work specified on repair orders efficiently and according to dealership standards
    • Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools and special equipment to test components and systems
    • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning
    • Communicate directly with Service Advisors to inform customers of additional services needed and provide repair estimates
    • Execute warranty repairs according to manufacturer specifications

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience at an automotive dealership required
    • Strong teamwork skills
    • Valid in-state driver’s license and automobile insurance
    • Clean driving record

    This position will be suited to an experienced person who can inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles. The candidate needs to provide excellent customer service and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis.

    To diagnose and repair faults, and conduct vehicle services according to prescribed standards of the OEM. Deliver high-quality technical expertise to satisfy customers and honour organisational service delivery values.

    Position Overview:

    The responsibilities of a technician include the following tasks:

    • Carry out diagnostic work and support mechanics as set out by the Foreman.
    • Carry out fault diagnosis to aid and speed up Vehicle servicing.
    • Take steps to ensure servicing of Vehicles remain within the targeted percentages of the manufacturers’ time.
    • Discuss matters with service advisors and customers as required and provide coherent explanations.
    • Ensure standards are maintained with regards to vehicle care and safety whilst performing functions.
    • Ensure vehicles are returned to the customer after service in a neat and clean condition.
    • Complete all necessary and relevant training as required by the OEM (online, classroom, other mediums of training) within reasonable time frames.
    • Admin functions:
    • Complete forms and documentation included in the company’s service routine.
    • Draft and prepare any reports required.
    • Mentor apprentices, sign off logbooks, and evaluate their technical ability (if applicable)
    • Ensure effective communication with team members and colleagues across departments, with customers, and service providers.
    • Participate in marketing campaigns when required for the furtherance of the business.
    • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
