Job Purpose: Coordinate the key performance areas and result indicators associated with all new projects, planning and design, capital works programming (new electrical projects such as substations, underground cables, area lighting, conductors, low voltage services, etc.) and distribution, reticulation, including maintenance and repair activities, drafting detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts ensuring that all aspects of operation and associated processes are in compliance with project specifications and legislation (e.g. NRS 034-1:2007) and completed within planned time and budget constraints.

Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (NQF 6).
- Eligible for registration as a Pr Techni Eng with the Engineering Council of SA in terms of Act 46 of 2000 and must complete required professional registration within eight (8) months period from the date of appointment.
- 5 years relevant experience after obtaining the National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (NQF 6)
- Valid Code B Drivers’ license.
- Computer literacy (MS Office Applications, CAD & Electrical Designer).
- Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor Technology in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- 5 years relevant experience

Course description:
A studio-based introduction to the methods and processes of design. The course serves as a hands-on exploration of design issues through a series of exercises that introduce students to the conceptual underpinnings of the design process, developing their capacity to conceive, manipulate, and analyze form through a variety of representational media. In collaboration with the foundational course in first-year engineering, students will conduct client-driven community-based research in response to design problems.

Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in design.
Preferred Qualifications :
- We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate-level.
- Interest in collaborative modes of design pedagogy is important.
- Demonstrated experience in architectural practice is an asset, and evidence of collaborative work on projects with engineering professionals is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1-2 page portfolio.
Description of duties :
The successful candidate(s) will lead a unique design studio section under the direction of a course coordinator and in direct collaboration with instructors and staff from the Faculty of Engineering and the Daniels Faculty in an alternative studio environment. Normal duties may include the preparation and delivery of course content in a design studio setting; the development and administration of assignments; providing students with regular feedback on their work in the studio setting; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. There is no expectation of or requirement for research or administrative service.
