The key purpose of this role is to maximize business value, enhance overall value chain predictability and performance through improved sales forecast accuracy and effective portfolio management. The Demand Planning Specialist will do this by analysing and enriching statistical forecasts and collaborating with commercial teams, ensuring alignment and consensus on both weekly and monthly forecasts for release to the supply chain, while optimizing the product portfolio.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support and Manage Zone LCP as per Scope Requirement (E.g. Demand Planning, Portfolio, Management, S&OP)
  • Prepare, Manage and Facilitate key Demand and Portfolio routines (E.g. S&OE, S&OP, Portfolio Review, Demand Review, Supply Review)

Baseline Forecasting

  • Oversee the generation and validation of statistical forecasting outputs, ensuring the application of best-fit models and appropriate disaggregation across relevant time horizons.
  • Drive Touchless Demand Planning through enriched statistical forecasting and improved statistical forecast accuracy.

Commercial Enrichment & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Champion commercial enrichment initiatives (E.g. Marketing Calendars, Events, Promotions, NPDs, Discontinuations)
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with commercial, supply chain, and finance teams to integrate business intelligence and market trends into planning and portfolio decisions, including the integration of scenario planning and risk management into the demand planning cycle

Advanced Data Analysis and Management

  • Direct the preparation, analysis, and implementation of recommendations for Demand Planning data (e.g., master data, aggregation rules, segmentation, demand drivers, normalization).
  • Ensure appropriate master data management of Demand and Portfolio data within Demand/Portfolio planning tools (e.g. Active SKU validation, Delist actions, NPD/NPI Introduction).

Portfolio Management

  • Partake in Portfolio strategies to optimize product mix, drive profitability, and align with market opportunities.
  • Facilitate product introductions (NPD/NPI), rationalizations and lifecycle management by engaging in monthly Portfolio Reviews
  • Collaborate with Zone Portfolio, Marketing, Revenue, Sales, and Innovations to identify and prioritize new product opportunities, manage discontinuations, and ensure portfolio alignment with business objectives.

Reporting Tools & Executive Communication

  • Lead the implementation, enhancement, and utilization of zone reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports and executive presentations on key performance metrics (e.g., Forecast Accuracy, Bias, SCOH, Touchless Demand Planning, etc.) and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecast accuracy, portfolio performance, and value chain efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of analytical excellence, innovation, and best practice adoption in demand and portfolio management.

  • Effective numeracy, analytical skills & problem solving at both operational and tactical levels
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Good communicator across all levels within and external to the organisation
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build rapport and influence across all levels in the organisation
  • Excellent self management practices with a pro active, energetic and committed approach
  • Excellent presentation and report drafting skills
  • Excellent analytical understanding and strong excel capabilities advantageous
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of information optimally with attention to detail
  • An orientation towards the quantitative disciplines of mathematics, statistics and economics would be advantageous
  • Basic business financial understanding would be advantageous

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate should have a 3-year Bachelor level degree in Sciences or Commercial or similar degree or equivalent tertiary education
  • Ideal candidate should have between 3-5 years experience in the Demand Planning, sales/marketing, planning or supply chain disciplines in an FMCG environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sourcing and validating resolution funding and collateral-related data from multiple source systems.
  • Performing data and process gap analyses aligned to SARB’s Resolution Funding expectations.
  • Assisting in the design and build of the funding estimation and forecasting model.
  • Developing dashboards and reports to support resolution funding MIS and internal governance.
  • Engaging with Treasury, Risk, Finance, and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment and interlock of data sources.
  • Supporting the process analysis required for embedding new funding processes in resolution scenarios.
  • Documenting requirements and maintaining traceability across data, systems, and reporting layers.
  • Build the internal capabilities to estimate, manage, and report the institution’s funding and liquidity position in resolution scenarios, in line with SARB’s requirements under the Financial Sector Laws Amendment Act (FSLAA).

This role will contribute to delivering key components of the resolution funding strategy, including:

  • Resolution cost estimation.
  • Forecasting and MIS solutions for resolution funding.
  • Scenario analysis and modelling for liquidity shortfalls.
  • Governance and compliance framework development.
  • ELA collateral assessment and FMI liquidity gap identification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • SQL (min 1 year).
  • Business and data analysis (min 2 years).
  • Power BI or QlikView/Qlik Sense (min 1 year).
  • Banking experience.
  • PowerBI experience or similar reporting platform.
  • SAS experience.

Alliance Banking Senior Business Analyst – Key Requirements

1. Business Analysis & Strategy Alignment

Proven ability to elicit, document, and validate business requirements in a complex partnership-driven banking environment.

Strong understanding of Alliance Banking models, including BaaS, white-label platforms, and embedded financial services.

Ability to conduct gap analyses, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for proposed solutions.

Experience in supporting business case development, particularly for new partner onboarding, product enhancements, or regulatory projects.

2. Financial Services & Regulatory Knowledge

Strong grasp of banking products and services (e.g., payments, savings, credit, cards, collections, remittances).

Familiarity with South African financial regulations including SARB, FSCA, FICA, and POPIA requirements.

Exposure to risk, compliance, and audit processes, particularly in third-party/partner environments.

3. Process Design & Optimisation

Experience in documenting and improving end-to-end business processes, especially those involving external partners.

Ability to model workflows using tools such as BPMN, Visio, or Lucidchart.

Knowledge of control environments, KPIs, SLAs, and escalation frameworks across operational value chains.

4. Data Analysis & Insights

Competency in data-driven decision-making, including data profiling, reconciliation, and insights to support product performance.

Ability to work with Excel, SQL, Power BI or equivalent to perform ad hoc analysis.

Understanding of data governance and quality, especially in integrated partner environments.

5. Partner & Stakeholder Management

Strong stakeholder management skills with experience interfacing across IT, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, and external partners.

Proven ability to act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding and execution.

Confidence in participating in governance committees, product working groups, and external partner discussions.

6. Project Management & Agile Delivery

Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum or hybrid project methodologies, including backlog grooming and sprint planning.

Exposure to JIRA, Confluence, DevOps, Trello, or similar tools.

Ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliver under tight deadlines in a fast-paced Alliance environment.

7. Documentation & Communication

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear, concise, and structured reporting.

Ability to create and present business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications (FRDs), and user stories.

Experience in preparing partner onboarding documentation, SOPs, and support playbooks.

8. Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (postgraduate advantageous).

Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in business analysis within banking or FinTech environments.

Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile BA, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.
