Role Overview: The BIM Coordinator is a project specific role accountable for the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and standards on the project. This individual collaborates closely with the project team, Project Executive, and Business Unit BIM Manager to ensure the efficient and effective use of BIM technology and methodologies. The most senior BIM coordinator on a project typically acts as the BIM Lead/Manager for the project. Role responsibilities: Organise and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve interface issues and maintain consistent Level of Information Need (LOIN). Establish project BIM coordination & collaboration strategy via workflow diagram (Zutmap), seek BIM manager sign off, communicate to all stakeholders, and implement. Define the project scope with the Project Executive and BIM Manager, especially in terms of appointing parties. Collaborate with the BIM Manager and Information Manager to establish and maintain the project’s common data environment (CDE). Own project implementation of the Zutari baseline LOIN, authoring templates and content libraries. Co-develop (with the BIM Manager) the BEP/MIDP/TIDP/Scope Clarification, Capability/Capacity Assessments, information production methods & procedures, project information protocol and maintain these during project delivery. Ensure ongoing project adherence to the BEP and EIRs via a planned audit schedule. Evaluate and test BIM technologies/workflows as required by the project and ISO19650. Identify opportunities for efficiency enhancement in the BIM process and implement. Excellent communicator with 5 – 10 years industry experience in BIM coordination. Problem solver with advanced modelling, federation & information management skills. Strong knowledge of ISO 19650 and ISO 7817. Skilled in Autodesk (Revit, C3 D, P3 D, Navisworks, Inventor, ACC) and/or Bentley suite. Familiarity with Plannerly, Solibri, BIMcollab, Dynamo and Python desirable. • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in 3D modelling and use of 3D modelling software.
• A willingness to learn and investigate technological systems.
• A strong interest in working on innovative and complex projects.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• Possess a tertiary level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Possess previous experience in the water industry (bulk conveyance, pump stations, treatment plants, dams, and hydropower).
• Possess structural design and steel detailing experience.

AECOM is currently recruiting for the role of Senior BIM Coordinator (Civils), this position is responsible for managing the implementation of BIM and Information Management on civils projects for Enterprise Capabilities. This position will offer a hybrid work schedule to include both office and remote work opportunities based from one of 4 office locations in South Africa.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• BIM Implementation Execution – execute the BIM Implementation strategy on complex international projects
• CDE Admin – provide CDE administration to project teams, manage permissions, complete model-setup in ACC/BIM360 and/or ProjectWise
• Multi-Discipline Coordination – lead and execute project coordination workflows, create federated model, condition model’s data as necessary, lead and execute clash detection on models, lead BIM coordination meetings and support project teams with project issue’s management using either ACC/BIM360, Navisworks or Revizto
• Information Management – coordinate smart object metadata and classification codes with asset information databases
• Technical Support – provide advanced guidance on 3D modelling and data management and oversee project teams using either the Bentley suite; OpenBridge, OpenRoads, OpenBuildings, MicroStation or the Autodesk suite; Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Revit.
• Scan-to-BIM - integrate Point Clouds in the project’s federated model dataset and implement the Scan-to-BIM workflow
• 4D Simulation – create simulations and animations of transport and civil infrastructure projects using InfraWorks, Navisworks, or Bentley Descartes and Lumen RT. Implement phasing in BIM models and produce 4D construction simulations with Navisworks and Synchro or similar
• Content Creation – support the production and creation of smart object content libraries & templates (parametric Revit families, Revit templates, Civil 3D component catalogues) and support the maintenance of AECOM’s content management repositories (Avail/UNIFI)
• Collaboration – be an ambassador for collaboration with other BIM / Information Management team members from different Enterprise Capabilities offices (Spain, Poland, India, South Africa, Romania, etc). Drive consistency in standards and best practice approaches for BIM across regions

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Demonstrate a portfolio of civil and infrastructure projects working as BIM Coordinator/modeller/documenter
• (Preferably civils infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels, roads, rail, and civils buildings).
• Experience executing multi-discipline coordination, clash detection and issue management and an advance user of any of the following: Autodesk Navisworks, Revizto, and ACC Model Coordination.
• Experience working with the ISO19650 framework and implementing required documentation in a project environment.
• Advanced knowledge and experience resolving model issues and conflicts in Civil 3D and Revit
• Experience optimising workflows with Dynamo will be considered favourable
• Technical design and construction delivery knowledge for Transport and Civil Infrastructure disciplines.
• Experience working with Common Data Environments Autodesk Construction Cloud and Bentley ProjectWise.
• Communication - Fluent in English (oral and written), a team player and mentor, and exceptional interpersonal skills

Professional Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Design Technology or Construction Technology, or a related discipline project execution or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
• 8+ years of industry experience in the BIM and Digital Delivery field. Must have previous formal multidiscipline BIM Manager/Coordinator role experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Visual programming – preferred, working knowledge of Dynamo, Bentley Generative Components and/or Grasshopper
• International experience working with global project teams. Experience working on projects in any of the following: Australia, USA, Canada, UK, and Ireland, Middle East and/or Asia will be considered favourable.

About the roleYou’ll play a critical part in successfully implementing BIM processes across project teams.
