• Bachelor's degree in Architecture.

Role responsibilities

1. Acts as BIM lead for the project.
2. Set up and assume responsibility for major BIM projects with multiple stakeholders.
3. Lead a team of BIM coordinators.
4. Leads BIM on a single major project or multiple small projects.
5. Manage client and stakeholder BIM related relationships on the project at a senior level.
6. Maintain consistent level of detail and level of information.
7. Organize and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve interface issues.
8. Establish project BIM coordination and collaboration strategy via the Zutari workflow map.
9. Implement Zutari BIM strategy at project level.
10. Provide leadership, support and training to more junior coordinators on the project.
11. Enable design management via the use of latest BIM technologies.

Minimum Requirements

1. Preferred Engineering, Architectural or Construction management Degree.
2. 7 or more years’ experience within the coordinator capacity.
3. Operam IM Professional.
4. Ability to undertake multiple complex tasks while effectively managing resources.
5. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design.

PRDW is an international group of consulting engineers practising exclusively in the specialist areas of port and coastal engineering. With offices in Cape Town, South Africa, and worldwide, PRDW offers a full range of consulting engineering services, including investigations, planning and feasibility studies, design, tender documents, supervision of construction, and post-construction monitoring.

This is a full-time role as a 2D–3D modeler located in Cape Town with flexibility for some remote work. This technical role within the design office includes the responsibility for creating concept sketches to detailed engineering drawings (in both 2D and 3D) using relevant software, to ensure accuracy and quality. The modeler will collaborate closely with the design team consisting of engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and deadlines.

• Advanced Diploma from a recognized educational institution
• Autodesk Certified - Preferred
• Experience in port and coastal engineering, or similar heavy infrastructure (e.g., bridges) - Preferred

About the role
You’ll play a critical part in successfully implementing BIM processes across project teams. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee compliance of project BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and dhk’s BIM best practices, ensuring consistent software use, regular data exchanges and adherence to established modelling standards.

1. Managing standards and support teams:
   • Implement ISO 19650 standards and best practices across projects while managing BIM models and processes throughout the project lifecycle
   • Collaborate with project teams, clients and contractors to ensure seamless BIM integration and successful implementation
   • Develop, update and enforce BIM standards, procedures, documentation and workflows alongside BIM Managers
   • Train, mentor and support staff on BIM best practices while assisting with automation to enhance productivity and maintain standards
   • Provide support for electronic file submissions and data interoperability
   • Stay updated on emerging BIM technologies
2. Software management:
   • Manage, install and support BIM-related software in collaboration with BIM Managers, IT support and software vendors
   • Liaise with developers’ support staff to resolve technical issues and research new efficiencies, automations and tools
   • Maintain expertise in AEC software packages, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, Recap Pro, AutoCAD and Autodesk Docs (ACC/BIM360)
3. Training:
   • Support BIM Managers in training staff on Revit and other AEC software, including orientation for new team members
   • Maintain professional competency through ongoing training and development and share insights from industry events with the team
4. Project team interface:
   • Provide hands-on project support, including modelling, detailing and project setup on Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and other CDE platforms
   • Create custom Revit families, manage asset data (COBie, Uniclass, Omniclass) and audit project file health in alignment with dhk BIM standards
   • Implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), manage clash detection processes and resolve project-specific BIM challenges with BIM Managers

1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field with SACAP registration preferred
2. Minimum three years of BIM Coordination experience and five years in the architectural field, with strong proficiency in Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk CDE platforms
3. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of construction and documentation processes for large-scale projects
4. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients

1. Serve as the primary contact for BIM-related enquiries, collaborating with the BIM Managers to provide guidance and support while maintaining project file health and system compliance
2. Possess a strong understanding of BIM principles, software platforms and clash detection, with skills in Revit API, C#, Python, Rhino, Blender or SketchUp considered beneficial.
3. Collaborate with the dhk BIM team and BIM committee to promote best practices, oversee committee strategy and contribute to workflow improvements through AI and generative tools
4. Conduct audits, generate health reports and adapt flexibly to varied deployment across multiple projects to meet BIM goals.
