Role overview
The role retains accountability for the implementation of BIM across all projects within a business unit (BU). The BIM manager is the primary point of contact for BIM in a BU and reports to the BU MD or Director of Operations.
Role responsibilities
- Functionally lead the team of BIM coordinators, modellers, detailers and Information managers in the BU, develop real-time visibility of their day-to-day capacity, assess their capability and initiate training/mentoring as required.
- Review the scope off all incoming projects and lead completion of the preflight checklist at the price/plan and mobilisation stage of all projects.
- Provide project specific support to BIM coordinators and Information Managers, typically at the start of the project but also as required during the delivery stages.
- Support data integration initiatives to allow more objective project performance tracking via the BIM Data Platform and BIM Dashboard.
- Work closely with Project Executives to ensure projects are resourced with the right people in time to ensure efficient project BIM execution and resource utilisation.
- Co-develop and function as owner of the baseline workflows for the BU.
- Owner of the Zutari baseline LOIN and authoring templates for the BU.
- Manage BIM software use & selection within the BU to optimise token use.

Role Overview:
The BIM Coordinator is a project specific role accountable for the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and standards on the project. This individual collaborates closely with the project team, Project Executive, and Business Unit BIM Manager to ensure the efficient and effective use of BIM technology and methodologies. The most senior BIM coordinator on a project typically acts as the BIM Lead/Manager for the project.
Role responsibilities:
- Organise and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve interface issues and maintain consistent Level of Information Need (LOIN).
- Establish project BIM coordination & collaboration strategy via workflow diagram (Zutmap), seek BIM manager sign off, communicate to all stakeholders, and implement.
- Define the project scope with the Project Executive and BIM Manager, especially in terms of appointing parties.
- Collaborate with the BIM Manager and Information Manager to establish and maintain the project’s common data environment (CDE).
- Initiate and maintain cadence of model federation with all project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.

Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with structural engineers to develop detailed designs and documentation for bridges and other structural projects.
- Create and maintain Revit models, drawings, and details for structures / bridge projects.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The BIM Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes for Companies Operational Facilities. The Specialist will be responsible for aiding the Senior BIM, Drawing Office and Technical Standards Manager (multi-role) “BDOTS.”
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Develop, publish and implement BIM standards, protocols & processes based on best practices. Set up Company specific, drawing naming convention in line with ISO standards, and centralized drawing repository of Companies DC facilities, including historical projects, new projects and ad-hoc operational projects.
- Ensure team members and relevant stakeholders are trained in the BIM use, standards, protocols, processes and best practice relevant to the respective roles.
- Ensure that models and design data are reviewed, coordinated and verified as conforming to Companies BIM Standards and Best Practice. This includes ownership of BIM Digital Twins i.e. live Models and BIM Data Sets handed over by either IDEV or IM Departments upon handover of projects to the same.
- Facilitate consultation between colleagues, external professional consultants and clients in designing, layout or detailing components and systems to resolve technical problems as need to be facilitated via the Companies BIM/Hub/Ecosystem in order to maintain data fidelity.
- Work closely with the internal teams and Independent Architects, to ensure as-built data fidelity is maintained for existing facilities i.e ensuring that where/when change occurs within the built environment post Infrastructure Development Department handover to Operations and IM that BIM Practice is followed.
- Work with IM Department Document Controllers to ensure the successful migration of as-built and handover data between the BIM environment and the Companies O&M Sharepoint Hub.
- Establish processes with the Infrastructure Management Document Controller(s) to ensure that Companies BIM best practice and policy (OIR, PIR & BEP) per department is followed in order to maintain design and standards data fidelity across the organisation.
- Establish effective BIM (ACC) workflows to manage collaborative work between the IM, OMIP, SM & IDEV departments.
- Evaluate and implement new BIM tools, techniques and technologies for continuous improvement and development of the Companies BIM (ACC) Hub. This includes assisting the BDOTS in working towards attaining ISO 19650 Certification for BIM within Companies as an organisation. Thereafter maintaining ISO 19650 Certification compliance.
- Monitor and report on BIM process performance across the abovementioned departments monthly to the BDOTS for the purposes of aiding the BDOTS in continuous development and improvement of BIM related efficiencies within Companies organisation.
- Aiding the BDOTS in ensuring that Companies BIM Best Practice, Protocols, Policy and Discipline are propagated to the Companies supply chain vendors required to integrate with Companies projects via BIM (ACC).
- Aiding the BDOTS within the sphere of the Drawing Office to perform an architectural design and coordination function in the event that an additional Drawing Office resource is required at short notice i.e. in the event that one of the Drawings Office architectural technologists is ill, absent, on leave or requires assistance to support an urgent business need.

Job Description
The Structural BIM Modeler performs a variety of design activities including BIM modelling, design, preparing drawings for projects, clash detection, establishing guidelines and procedures, and managing workload distribution within the BIM team.
The incumbent must be familiar with the collaborative Autodesk Suite and Bentley Suite of design software tools. Proven competence in modelling Bridge and Civil Structures and the ability to develop and interpret detailed design work. The Structural BIM Modeler will be involved in automated design using Dynamo and similar tools, Navisworks clash detection, and coordination of major infrastructure projects.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in modelling civil structures
- Highly competent with structural engineering modeling using either Autodesk Suite or Bentley software
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a project team

Role Responsibilities
- Coordinating the modelling of building services designs for projects such as education and sports facilities, hospitals, commercial buildings, transport facilities, hotels, apartments, and industrial facilities.
- Effectively setting up Revit models in BIM360 for use by clients, architects, engineers, and engineering parties.
- Modelling and delivering building services projects in Revit and related programming packages (Dynamo & Python skills are highly advantageous).
- Extending our digital content libraries through advanced family creation in accordance with internal guidelines.
- Quality checking deliverables (including modelling works and data/parameter management) carried out by global and multinational dispersed & remote teams.
- Coordinating with other disciplines by federating models for early identification and proactive clash avoidance and/or resolution.
- Facilitating virtual and mixed reality sessions for coordination and consultation purposes, and interested in researching and implementing new BIM technology into project work.

Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Electrical environment, preferably as a modeller within the built environment.
- BIM and Revit experience is non-negotiable; certificates are beneficial.
- Experience with coordination tools, such as Navisworks, BIM Glue, and/or Revizto.
- Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, and other automation methods is highly beneficial.
- Experience with Common Data Environments and other relevant platforms.
