Role Overview:

The BIM Coordinator is a project specific role accountable for the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and standards on the project. This individual collaborates closely with the project team, Project Executive, and Business Unit BIM Manager to ensure the efficient and effective use of BIM technology and methodologies. The most senior BIM coordinator on a project typically acts as the BIM Lead/Manager for the project.

Role responsibilities:

• Organise and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve interface issues and maintain consistent Level of Information Need (LOIN).

Role Responsibilities

The role retains accountability for the implementation of BIM across all projects within a business unit (BU). The BIM manager is the primary point of contact for BIM in a BU and reports to the BU MD or Director of Operations.

The Structural BIM Modeler performs a variety of design activities including BIM modelling, design, preparing drawings for projects, clash detection, establishing guidelines and procedures, and managing workload distribution within the BIM team.

• Quality checking deliverables (including modelling works and data/parameter management) carried out by global and multinational dispersed & remote teams.
• Coordinating with other disciplines by federating models for early identification and proactive clash avoidance and/or resolution.
• Facilitating virtual and mixed reality sessions for coordination and consultation purposes, and interested in researching and implementing new BIM technology into project work.
• Maintaining project records in accordance with internal quality systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Electrical environment, preferably as a modeller within the built environment.
• BIM and Revit experience is non-negotiable; certificates are beneficial.
• Experience with coordination tools, such as Navisworks, BIM Glue, and/or Revizto.
• Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, and other automation methods is highly beneficial.
• Experience with Common Data Environments and other relevant platforms.

• Drive the development of strategies to use digital engineering, e.g., to reduce the time and cost of project delivery, improve quality of deliverables, and create standardised digital workflows.
• Ensure active promotion and use of our latest digital solutions such as Revit, Bluebeam Studio, PowerBI, scripting for repetitive and generative designs, and BIM interoperability.
• Deliver confident and quality digital value additions to our clients.
• Coordinate and drive the digital development of our team members to ensure the team remains at the forefront of technical development.
• Partner with our clients' digital delivery teams to stay updated with and influence their digital offerings.
• Experience in modelling mechanical, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, and fire systems in Revit.
• Lead a team of younger modelers on hospital projects, guiding and teaching them.
• Develop and adhere to BIM execution plans, support, maintain, and extend existing Revit and AutoCAD add-ins.

• Matric or equivalent; a National Diploma would be beneficial.
• At least 3 years of healthcare draughting experience as an MEPF digital modeller; senior digital MEPF modeller candidates will also be considered.
• Proficiency in Revit is essential; advanced coding skills such as Dynamo, Sprinkcalc, and PyRevit are desirable.
• Experience in delivering healthcare projects within the South African commercial built environment, with a proactive approach to solutions that enhance accuracy, quality, and data richness.
• Innovative mindset capable of leveraging technological advancements.
• Ability to use initiative to resolve tasks or problems at a senior level.
