Position Overview

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) - Part Time

Summary: Implements ABA services for clients as written by the supervising BCBA.

Essential Functions
  • Provide direct 1:1 ABA therapy in home and community settings.
  • Implement treatment plans and programs as directed by BCBA.
  • Collect data and submit session notes per company policy.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Certification Requirements

Maintain an active RBT certification at all times. Certification lapses will lead to removal from client cases until renewed. An inactive certification affects employment status.

  • Employment may be terminated if no client engagement occurs for 3 months.

Job Purpose: Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Mental Health (MH) component of the Kuyakhanya Project across districts in KwaZulu-Natal. The role is accountable for ensuring effective delivery of mental health services through the Lay Counsellor team, integration of MH with other project activities, stakeholder engagement, data quality assurance, logistical support, training and capacity development, and continuous learning and quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and operational oversight for Lay MH Counsellors across project districts.
  • Coordinate weekly planning and review meetings with field teams to ensure alignment with work plans.
  • Support the MH team's logistics, including phones, data, transportation arrangements, and coordination of shared resources.
  • Collaborate closely with ECD and MH team leads to ensure integrated delivery of services at the site level.
  • Maintain and monitor tracking tools for MH field activities, ensuring accurate documentation is captured and timely reported.
  • Monitor counselling targets, screening outcomes, and initiate strategies to improve reach and follow-up.
  • Support onboarding and capacity development of new Lay Counsellors, including training on tools, screening protocols and follow-up procedures.
  • Identify and resolve challenges related to field implementation, reporting, or stakeholder coordination.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with site-level stakeholders, including clinics, local Department of Health reps, and community leadership.
  • Assist with feedback sessions, community awareness activities, and mobilisation efforts.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of SOPs, workplans, and training tools.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the MH Lead and contribute to monthly and quarterly project reports.
  • Represent the MH component in district-level stakeholder engagements and project meetings, as delegated.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA):

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience coordinating or managing community-based programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health or psychosocial support programs is highly desirable.
  • Valid, unendorsed driver’s license with a minimum of 2 years’ driving experience and willingness to travel extensively.

  • Manage the total quality of the nursing care of the hospital.
  • Manage the administrative policies, procedures and protocols that support the nursing services.
  • Coordinate and lead shift handover meetings with senior RNs.
  • Oversee, monitoring and managing sufficient nursing staff planning.
  • Provide ongoing training and monitoring of skills obtained.
  • Compile and implement yearly training schedule.
  • Performance evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Promote mentorship and training in the Nursing Unit.
  • Overseeing, monitoring, and maintaining accurate patient- and other records.
  • Overseeing, monitoring, and maintaining compile shift reports.
  • Provide high-quality and safe patient care.
  • Manage and record all incidents and near misses.
  • Overseeing infection prevention and control.
  • Overseeing, management of all medical, non-medical stock and equipment in the Nursing Unit.
  • Medication Oversee and Laisse with Medical Management RN and Hospital board.
  • ECT Oversee, monitoring and laisse with ECT RN.
  • OHSA Manage and oversee the Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Control

General Operational:

  • Managing and ensure compliance with all regulatory documents and protocols.
  • Organization and planning with respect to all units of Hospital and initiative to develop updated protocols within the framework of a company.
  • Managing and assisting in developing and implementing skills development program in conjunction with other unit managers.
  • Managing and assisting in compiling sufficient BBB -EE compliancy in conjunction with relevant service provider
  • Managing and assisting in HR practices for the nursing staff in conjunction with relevant service
  • Oversee and laisse in HR practices with unit managers of different units and other staff members as needed provider in conjunction with relevant service provider.
  • Managing and assisting in occurring legal matters in co -operation and conjunction with legal team.
  • Managing and assisting with patient, and patient-related matters and complaints in accordance with hospital protocols and coordinating with outsourced service providers as needed.
  • Manage and oversee the total quality and operational housekeeping services of the facility in conjunction with unit managers.
  • Manage and oversee adhering to financial management guidelines provider in conjunction with relevant service provider.
  • Manage and oversee efficient staff planning, leave planning and assist with payroll functions (e.g. compiling timesheets,) in conjunction with other unit managers.
  • Manage and oversee effective storing of all confidential and relevant and confidential documents.
  • Structured and effective organizing of electronic working files and documents.
  • Prompt and effective feedback communication electronic & telephonically.
  • Prompt and effective handling of high acuity matters.
  • Good liaison between patients, psychiatrists, MDT Members, ward staff and if needed with family members.
  • To assist in all managerial tasks as a deputy manager (2IC) when required and assume hospital management responsibilities if necessary.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Matric
  • Diploma in General Nursing at NQF Level 6 or B Cur Degree at NQF Level 7
  • Management or related NQF 6 or 7 qualification
  • Valid registration with SANC
  • Experience in a general ward is essential
  • Senior Unit Manager experience is essential
  • Psychiatric experience would be advantageous
  • Computer literate (compiling of messages, emails and training documents)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in Medical administration programs.
  • Fluent in English & Afrikaans (verbal & written) is required

Salary: £39,383 (GA Incl)

Job Purpose

The Senior Forensic Mental Health Practitioner (FMHP) will hold a caseload across two Approved Premises (APs) located in Camden and Tulse Hill. They will provide psychologically informed assessments and interventions, drawing on approaches such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Psychoeducation

The goal is to equip service users with practical tools to better manage their mental health.

The Job Holder Will Work Collaboratively With AP Staff, Probation Practitioners, And Wider Partners To Deliver Holistic, Coordinated Support. This Includes:

  • Facilitating case consultations to enhance colleagues’ confidence and skills in supporting individuals with mental health needs
  • Actively contributing to team meetings to inform decision-making and support planning
  • Leading workshops for AP staff on topics such as mental health awareness, trauma-informed practice, and engaging effectively with healthcare partners

Key Responsibilities

Job-Specific Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and promotion of the service and Together by attending relevant forums
  • Creation and delivery of relevant information sessions to professionals
  • Work in partnership with other stakeholders
  • Facilitate learning in groups through presentations and activities both within Together and external agencies
  • Assess mental health and social care needs and provide a bespoke holistic support package
  • Understand and adhere to relevant safeguarding and risk management protocols
  • Empower people to lead on their support plan
  • Provide low intensity support interventions of psychoeducation using techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and Compassion Focused Therapy
  • Support and deliver interventions to service users with complex needs and dual diagnosis
  • Contribute to the prevention and management of harmful and violent behaviour
  • Help people build self-esteem and increase motivation
  • Enable people to discover and access appropriate services and facilities
  • Support people to navigate and access services available to them as part of the bespoke care plan
  • Assist people whose care is being transferred between services/agencies by liaising as appropriate
  • Dynamically assess and manage risk, sharing need-to-know information with relevant agencies
  • Report back on outcomes directly to referrers and/or via clinical and multidisciplinary group meetings
  • Record keep, evidence work done, and ensure data is entered promptly and effectively onto relevant data management systems
  • Work with integrity within the service delivery model, ensuring consistency and quality of service provision
  • Maintain regular communication and updates with the wider team via phone, text, and emails
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with staff in other agencies
  • Develop a significant understanding of Together and its value system to present Together in a positive light
  • Advise statutory agencies about the needs of service users in the relevant geographical area(s) and identify gaps in the service
  • Research, prepare, and supply information to monitor the effectiveness of the service and produce statistical data as required to the service manager

Practicalities

  • Working Hours: 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
  • Work-Related Travel: You may be required to travel from your base to different offices. Additional travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed in line with the expense policy

    • Ministry of Justice vetting: Enhanced Level 1 clearance (applied for once role is offered and accepted)
    • Enhanced DBS clearance
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Mental health assessment and intervention skills Ability to conduct psychological assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT, psychoeducation).
  • Risk management and safeguarding knowledge Understanding of safeguarding protocols and dynamic risk assessment in forensic settings.
  • Communication and collaboration Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with AP staff, probation officers, and external agencies.
  • Record keeping and data management Competence in maintaining accurate records and using data systems for reporting.
  • Training and facilitation Ability to deliver workshops and case consultations to professionals.
  • Experience working in mental health services At least 2–3 years in a mental health or forensic setting, ideally with experience supporting individuals with complex needs or dual diagnoses.
  • Experience in multi-agency environments Prior work in settings involving collaboration with criminal justice, social care, or healthcare professionals.
  • Experience delivering psychological interventions Demonstrated ability to apply therapeutic techniques in practice, even at low intensity.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent Degree in psychology, mental health nursing, social work, or a related field.
  • Professional registration (if applicable) Registration with a relevant body (e.g., HCPC, NMC, BACP) may be required or preferred depending on the employer.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance Mandatory for working with vulnerable individuals in criminal justice settings.

The ideal Mental Health Professional will have experience providing services in a Behavioral Health organization or have experience with a community mental health or healthcare organization.

Arisa Health is Arkansas' largest and most comprehensive nonprofit behavioral health provider. Formed by the affiliation of 4 long-standing Arkansas community mental health centers, Arisa Health leads with exceptional care that nurtures health and well-being for all. Arisa provides outpatient services, Crisis services and emergency screening, substance abuse counseling, intensive children services, intensive adult services, medical services, and residential services in 41 Arkansas counties.

This position is classified as full- time, exempt (salaried) and reports to the Program Coordinator.

Work hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is a hybrid position which offers the flexibility to work on site and remotely.

This position is projected to start on June 23, 2025.

What you will do as a Mental Health Professional at Arisa Health:

  • Interview/assess clients for mental health needs and perform individual, family and group therapy services.
  • Document, review, and maintain accurate case records and relevant clinical information.
  • Provide counseling and appraisal services to individuals or groups designed to develop an understanding of personal problems, to define goals, to plan activities to assess an individual’s aptitudes, attitudes, abilities, achievements, interests, and personal characteristics as these are related to personal social concerns, and educational progress.
