About The Organisation And The Role
Swartz Attorneys in Johannesburg specializes in matters relating to personal injury and accidents and currently has an opening for a newly admitted candidate Attorney, with the opportunity to grow with the firm.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing personal case load from start to finish
- Managing High Court rulings, procedures and latest directives
- Research in personal injury and RAF
- Support with staff management
- Daily administration
- Analysis of precedence and case history.
The ideal applicant will have the following competencies:
- Work experience and industry exposure
- LLB degree
- Some litigation experience is an advantage but not essential
- Full knowledge of High Court rules, procedures and latest directives.
- Must have an understanding of law and research procedures
- Experience in personal injury and RAF matters is a distinct advantage.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate well with a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with people from all ages and stages of life.
- Must be able to manage staff with solid examples of situations managing staff.
- A flexible, self-driven individual who is able to work autonomously while maintaining open channels of communication with a team.
- Analytical thinker and problem solver.
- Must be a driven self-starter, looking to build a practice for the long term.
- Strong administration skills.
- Must be detail orientated.
- General
- Outgoing and results driven.
- A commitment for learning and a willingness to grow with the business.

What we’re looking for
You should:
- Be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town.
- Be an admitted (or soon-to-be admitted) attorney, with 0–2 years of post-articles experience (in-house or in a law firm).
- Have experience, or a strong interest, in commercial contracts (if you haven’t worked in this area before, tell us why it excites you).
- Be comfortable in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and plenty of autonomy.
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a natural drive to improve how things are done
