As an Associate Tax Consultant in Lucanet’s Tax compliance and reporting solutions team, you will support companies in the digital transformation of their tax processes. You will work at the intersection of technology, tax law and client projects, gaining hands-on experience with our Tax Tech solutions—particularly in the areas of income tax, VAT, Pillar 2, CBCR. With guidance from experienced colleagues, you will gradually take on more responsibility and develop your expertise in this exciting and fast-evolving field.
What you'll do- Assist in the implementation of client projects within the tax technology space.
- Support the configuration, testing, and documentation of our tax solutions.
- Help analyze and improve tax processes in collaboration with experienced consultants.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients on tax technical questions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. product, sales) to help translate tax requirements into tech solutions.
- Contribute to product demonstrations, client workshops, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Participate in internal training and gain exposure to a broad range of tax technology topics.
- A university degree in business informatics, business, tax law, accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Ideally, you have gained some initial practical experience in business taxation or tax law and may also be familiar with a variety of software solutions/tax technology.
- Basic understanding of German tax law, especially income tax.
- Curiosity and motivation to explore IT systems.
- Strong interest in the digitalization of tax processes.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English (C1 level minimum).

Qualifications :

This role sits at the heart of strategic decision-making and tax innovation, reporting into the Johannesburg Head Office while offering full remote flexibility. Youll lead and influence a multi-entity tax function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that thrives on transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Tax Advisory: Draft comprehensive, technical tax opinions on complex cross-border matters, including treaty interpretation, transfer pricing, and controlled foreign companies (CFCs).
- International Tax Planning: Advise multinational clients on structuring, M&A tax planning, and Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) compliance.
- Tax Dispute Resolution: Engage directly with SARS, prepare legal submissions, and represent clients in disputes.
- Thought Leadership: Contribute to industry discussions, write technical articles, and deliver in-house training on global tax trends.
- Client & Practice Development: Build strong client relationships, deliver strategic advice, and drive the growth of the international tax service line.
Minimum Requirements:
- BCom Accounting or LLB (preferred) or CA(SA) accreditation
- Post-graduate qualification in Taxation (essential)
- Minimum 10 years' experience in tax, including 8+ years in audit/advisory
- Big 4 experience is strongly preferred
