Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience
To be appointed as Associate Professor:

- At least six years’ teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.
- Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision, and presentations at national and international conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements, which require
- 3.0 credit units at the Senior Lecturer level or 4.5 cumulative credit units (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.)
- Three completed master’s degrees as main supervisor; OR two completed doctorates (as main supervisor) at Senior Lecturer level OR four completed master’s degrees OR three cumulative completed doctorates (as main supervisor) OR at least one completed master’s degree (as main supervisor) and at least 9.0 cumulative credit units
- Ten cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at least three cumulative presentations/posters at an international conference
- Lead/manage at least one research project
To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:

The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Global Economics of Technology. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in the area of global economics of technology. The Committee especially welcomes scholars who focus on the impact of technology on economic productivity and innovation and candidates whose work engages with policy, with a deep understanding of global economics, an appreciation for its application to global affairs and public policy and a demonstrated track record of working in a cross disciplinary environment. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, externally funded research program.
The successful candidate will teach economics courses in the Munk School’s professional graduate programs (the Master of Global Affairs and the Master of Public Policy ) to students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and interests. The successful candidate will have experience or demonstrable interest in a professional school and/or in an interdisciplinary environment.

The incumbent should be available to play a leading role lecturing within the School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering as well as research conducted under the Centre for Excellence in Carbon-based fuels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching/Learning:
- Lecture typical chemical engineering modules, assist with the project and design modules of 4th year students.
- Ensure the commercial implementation of research results with subsequent involvement in community projects.
Research:
- Research on alternative energy to ensure continuation of the research currently being conducted.
Management:
- Involvement in the management of the School.
- An appropriate BEng/BScEng degree that allows for registration as Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA, in terms of the Washington Accord.
