About the role:

Associate Engineers know the ins and outs of development. As an individual contributor, you are building a solid foundation at Nintex. You are focused on tasks assigned to you within your teams. You reliably deliver your work, typically with the support of other engineers.

You will be immersed in the booming software automation industry. Specifically, RPA (Robotic Process Automation). You will be part of the Nintex RPA team where you would be a major contributor for developing the Nintex RPA product. This role will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and creating Nintex RPA Central and RPA Bot product features.

This is a hybrid position in JHB.

Your contribution will be:

  • You write clear and correct code that can be easily understood and always adheres to Nintex coding guidelines and standards.
  • You participate in the design and development of products and features.
  • You attend and contribute to team ceremonies and meetings (daily scrum meetings, planning meetings, demos, and development retrospective meetings.)
  • You provide clear and actionable technical feedback to the team for pull requests and peer reviews.
  • You communicate progress to the team and delivery manager regularly and seek guidance when required.
  • You proactively improve the test coverage and documentation of existing code (e.g., unit tests, automation tests, etc.)
  • You perform proactive testing of your work.
  • You take responsibility for quality by owning and fixing defects.
  • You regularly contribute new ideas and maintain focus on continual improvement.
  • You observe and learn about the incident management process and participate under the guidance of senior staff.

To be successful, we think you need:

  • BSc in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or similar degree.
  • 1+ years of software development experience
  • Fluency with C#, JavaScript and Typescript
  • Experience with desktop development/knowledge of VB.Net would be advantageous
  • Excellent research skills for new or unknown challenges. Much of RPA development involves researching unknown challenges.

Your Role at

Your Role at Impact:
As an Associate Software Engineer, your focus will be on delivering tasks for the squad, testing end to end, assisting QA with Staging environments and fixing broken builds.

The primary responsibility of this role is to learn the skills to participate in the creation and delivery of data-driven solutions that add business value using statistical models, machine learning algorithms, data mining, and visualization techniques.

The Associate AI Engineer will takes guidance from more experienced members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learns the skills to proactively support the evaluation, testing, and benchmarking of emerging AI vendor solutions against enterprise requirements.
  • Supports proof-of-concept initiatives by assisting with hands-on testing of AI platforms and documenting findings.
  • Learns how to apply structured methodologies for assessing AI technologies, including accuracy, scalability, compliance, and integration potential.
  • Assists with preparing reports, comparisons, and recommendations that inform strategic AI investment decisions.
  • Supports the team in systematically analyzing vendor claims, model outputs, and performance benchmarks.
  • Learns to create and execute test cases and scenarios to evaluate vendor AI solutions across different use cases.
  • Assists in ensuring testing coverage and reducing bottlenecks in AI project delivery through organized, repeatable evaluation processes.
  • Receives guidance to prepare technical and non-technical summaries of evaluation results for business stakeholders and leadership.
  • Keeps updated with industry standards, best practices, and evolving regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act) that influence AI adoption.
  • Performs any other related tasks to support AI solution evaluations and project delivery.

Academic Qualifications And Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant programming or AI/ML certifications preferred.
  • Agile certification preferred.

Required Experience

  • Entry-level experience in AI/ML, data science, or technology evaluation, preferably gained in a corporate environment or through academic/industry projects.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, model evaluation methods, and unstructured data analytics.
  • Exposure to programming languages (Python, R, etc.) for testing and prototyping AI solutions.
  • Some experience with evaluating or working with AI platforms and vendor tools is advantageous.
  • Entry-level experience in benchmarking, testing, or analyzing algorithms and data outputs.
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports or visualizations to communicate findings.

About the role:
You pursue and demonstrate a sound and deepening knowledge of DevOps fundamentals, including infrastructure automation, configuration management, quality, and security. With the guidance of more experienced Engineers, you deploy infrastructure into multiple environments, using automation where applicable.  You are starting to actively participate in the design, development, and implementation of infrastructure, pipelines and other DevOps capabilities. You aggressively develop your knowledge of available pipelining, automation, and other DevOps technology, such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines.

This role is hybrid in Johannesburg (2 days a week).

Your contribution will be:

  • You are proficient in fixing medium complexity issues independently. You develop appropriate automated tests to ensure your fixes succeed and are durable.
  • You demonstrate a sound understanding of DevOps fundamentals and can guide junior engineers as needed.
  • You balance your project time by learning new technical skills and techniques that will enhance your work productivity. You seek opportunities to effectively employ your new skills and techniques.
  • You are knowledgeable in the Nintex scripting toolset, including PowerShell, Python, pipeline YAML, and others.
  • You implement appropriate telemetry to inspect and meaningfully report relevant DevOps metrics.
  • You solve well-defined tasks leveraging existing DevOps patterns and examples.
  • You deploy services into environments (including production) following Nintex's deployment guidelines and automated pipelines.
  • You contribute to projects which expand your knowledge of all mainstream DevOps functions.
  • You write correct configuration and code (e.g., YAML pipelines, etc.) following Nintex guidelines and 'accepted' best practices.

To be successful, we think you need:

  • 2+ years experience' in Platform Engineering/DevOps
  • Strong scripting experience - Shell/Powershell/Bash
  • Cloud experience - AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Experience with Kubernetes is essential - AKS/EKS/bare metal Kubernetes
  • Iac - Terraform

About the Role:

The Associate Development Engineer works within the Engineering team to assist with the management, development and construction of renewable energy (primarily wind and solar), energy storage systems, and hybrid power generation projects across Africa. The projects may be at greenfield, part-developed or operations phase. The Associate Development Engineering will support the E&C team members in all project development activities including resource data management, conceptual design, yield assessments, due diligence, technical development, cost assessments, tendering, contract preparation and construction monitoring. The role will also be required to manage third-party contractors and contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Modelling renewable resources using third-party software (e.g. WindPro, WAsP, Homer, PVCase and PVSyst) or in-house models to estimate and optimise production through plant design.
  • Identify and mitigate spatial risks using GIS software.
  • Management of meteorological stations and databases.
  • Review and perform indicative plant design using computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD/Sketchup.
  • Developing performance models (in house or using 3rd Parties) to be used in the project proforma for the proposed facility.
  • Developing estimates of construction costs for project modelling purposes.
  • Identification and recommendation for mitigation & management of all technical risks.
  • Participating in due diligence site visits to assess the suitability, feasibility and risks associated with potential plant sites.
  • Investigate environmentally, permitting, and social issues and ensure that they are considered and mitigated during project development.
  • Providing and validating technical inputs into the project model.
  • Manage tendering processes for contractors and advisors.
  • Assist with the preparation of contract documents.
  • Managing outside technical consultants and engineers contracted to provide services as resources to the project team.
  • Assisting the Engineering team in all development and construction activities.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Educational background in renewables (particularly solar, wind and BESS).
  • Professional experience in the renewable industry as an Associate Development Engineer, developer, consultant, or site representative.
  • Prior experience in design and yield analysis software is preferable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
