The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, repair, assembly, and testing of gearboxes to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualification: N4 Certificate or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Trade Test: Recognized Artisan Trade Certificate (Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner / Millwright)
• Experience: Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in gearbox refurbishment, repairs, and mechanical component assembly
• Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and using precision measuring tools
• Strong knowledge of shafts, bearings, seals, and lubrication systems
• Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, dismantle, refurbish, and reassemble different types of gearboxes
• Identify and replace worn or damaged parts using approved tools and procedures
• Conduct quality testing, alignment, and operational checks after assembly
• Record all work performed and maintain workshop documentation
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment

Role Description

An Artisan (Electrician) is responsible for the safe and effective installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components. This role involves assisting an Installation Electrician with
hands-on experience in marine electrical systems, a deep understanding of safety protocols, and a valid

• Daily Plant Inspections: This includes checking various components like plantrooms, condensers, valve stations, spiral freezers, chillers, boilers and air compressors.
• Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance tasks from work orders and time allocations.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identifying and resolving issues around utilities equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Ensuring adherence to PPE protocols and all safety regulations related to ammonia handling, pressure vessels, critical valves and other statutory requirements as per OHS act, SANS 10147 and other relevant regulations.
• Documentation: Keeping detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Developing quick fix routines, standard work instructions and root cause analysis for breakdowns within areas of responsibility.
• Operating Equipment: Operating lifting machinery and other equipment required for maintenance tasks.

• Training and Supervision: Assisting experienced technicians and providing training to apprentices and assistants.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As an Artisan Boilermaker, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulic diagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;

• Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;

• Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 3 years' technical experience as a qualified Boilermaker of which 3 years on Heavy Mining;

• Experience in fabrication of pipe work and structures in an underground environment is essential;

• Ability to read drawings and fabricate accordingly;

• Experience in maintaining fix processing plant equipment will be advantageous;

• Working experience in SAP/1SAP will be advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Serious contenders will Grade 12 with mathematics and science together with a N3 Technical Certificate with a Plater/Welder/Boilermaker Trade Test;

• Valid Code 08 Driver's license is essential.
