The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the shaping, management, and delivery of world-class programmes in Architecture as part of the school’s hallmark transformative pedagogical and research goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and assessing in relevant postgraduate modules, including the joint professional BArch(Hons)/MArch programme, the MArch (DTP), PhD and Advanced Design Research initiatives.
  • Contributing to the supervision of postgraduate students in the GSA’s Unit System.
  • Leading research efforts in practice-based and creative outputs, especially in the fields of architecture, design realisation (making), history, theory, and practice.
  • Developing and expanding the GSA’s national and international profile and partnerships.
  • Contributing to the administration, leadership, and strategic initiatives within the GSA.
  • Engaging in societal and professional community outreach that enhances the profile of the GSA, the Faculty and university.
  • Contributing to ongoing research projects, exhibitions, and other creative outputs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A relevant doctorate (NQF 10 level) PhD and a sustained track record of teaching and research with a specialised course or programme; or an appropriate professional qualification and significant relevant professional experience at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience in professional architectural practice.
  • A proven record of research, including peer-reviewed publications, exhibitions, or other creative outputs.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead Unit System teaching and engage with both practice-led and design-led research.
  • At least three years of tertiary-level teaching experience.
  • Expertise in architectural history and theory, with a focus on cultural theory, African, diasporic, or post-colonial architectural practices.

Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

  • High level of energy, commitment, and passion for architectural education and research.
  • Strong planning, organisational, team-working and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in written, spoken, and academic English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.

  • A commitment to transforming architectural pedagogy and practice, particularly in the context of African and diasporic architecture.

Collaborating closely with our creative and development teams, you will manage the design and launch of websites, and partner with clients on their ongoing maintenance and optimization. Responsibilities: Partner with clients to execute creative and technical website projects Develop project timelines and oversee internal staff to ensure timely completion Manage client communications, including emails and presentations Track budgets and organize project information Requirements: 3+ years of agency experience managing web design and development projects Proficient in account and project management, establishing strong client relationships Skilled in scoping and executing tasks with clients, designers, and developers Strong communication skills and responsiveness, both internally and with clients Consistent delivery of high-quality work on time and within budget Ability to translate client requests into detailed briefs Attention to detail to ensure quality in design and development Strategic thinking to offer recommendations on website design and structure Familiarity with creative domains like UX design and website content strategy Ownership, initiative, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of personal integrity Nice to Haves: Experience with Webflow and Figma Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS, Java Script, and SEO Knowledge of CRM platforms like Hub Spot and Salesforce for website integrations #J-18808-Ljbffr

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptualization and design of dynamic marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Drive innovative, content creation and ideation that pushes the brand forward.
  • Oversee project management, toolkit organization, and file-sharing processes for efficient team delivery.
  • Liaise confidently with internal and external vendors, suppliers, and printers to ensure smooth production workflows.
  • Oversee and facilitate reproduction, printing, proofing, and quality control of all creative outputs.
  • Translate briefs into compelling creative strategies and executions.
  • Ensure all creative aligns with core brand positioning, tone, and visual guidelines.
  • Deliver projects on time, managing production deadlines effectively.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and creative guidance to junior designers and interns.
  • Show initiative and take on additional responsibilities in the absence of the Line Manager.
  • Confidently present creative concepts and solutions to external stakeholders and internal team members, clearly articulating ideas and incorporating feedback.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience as a Creative Director or Senior Creative Manager.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Creative Management or leadership role.
  • Must have a relevant Diploma in Graphic Design or equivalent.
  • Essential experience and Knowledge of photography, videography, and video editing is required.
  • Hands-on experience with photo shoot production & art direction.
  • Experience in animation and motion design is an advantage.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and deadline-driven approach.
  • Flexibility to multitask while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of production processes, typography, and design thinking.
  • Solid knowledge of print and digital content production.
  • Strong grasp of digital principles and content creation for social media platforms.
  • Awareness of industry trends, from marketing and design to emerging technologies like AI.
  • AI trend led & understanding of how to go to market.
  • Proficiency in Apple Mac OS and Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Adobe firefly, KlingAI & Runway.)
  • Keen eye for communication design, layout, and balanced composition.
  • Ability to translate creative direction and provide constructive critique.
  • High creativity, innovation, and ability to elevate design work consistently.
