Job Description
Tilt Screens is seeking an Industrial Designer to join our team. You will be a Fusion 360 expert and an Adobe Illustrator pro, who will be responsible for sheet metal product design development through to final manufactured architectural product solutions.
Working closely with the technical designer and project director, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of every product on every project - designing, specifying and instructing various teams at each stage.
You will have excellent industrial vector-based and 3-dimensional design knowledge, manufacture experience and material based technical drawing skills.
With an eye for graphic applications and a proficient understanding of architecture, you will be responsible for not only designing to client briefs, but ensuring the success of the manufacture, assembly and installation per solution.
Your involvement in simultaneous live projects, sites and client meetings, make this a challenging yet rewarding role, as you get to see the products you design, shape architecture and add to the functionality of spaces within short timeframes.

What you will do.
Ability to undertake tasks required on the day-to-day delivery requirements of projects at all stages.
- Develop and design architectural product solutions based on the company’s existing design ethos and aesthetic.
- Design products and develop manufacture processes to evolve the company’s current product offering.
- Combine knowledge in industrial design, engineering and manufacturing through technical shop drawings and product detailing.
- Design products and structures using your experience in sheet metal, manufacture processes and an understanding materials, strengths and cost implications.
- Production of all drawings required to achieve design approvals from clients which may include 3D renders, visual models, technical drawings, shop drawings and assembly packs.
- Capable of clear communications, verbal communication and instructions to workshop teams and installation teams.
- Time management of work across multiple live projects, prioritising workloads and understanding the multiple phases of each project.
- Apply quantities, material types and estimations for project proposals with the sales team.
Your qualifications and experience. Please apply if you can meet most of the following.
- Minimum Diploma, Industrial Design or equivalent, with demonstrable experience in design, detailing and manufacturing experience.
- Expert knowledge of and proven practical background in both vector-based programmes and 3D software e.g. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Adobe Illustrator, Rhino.
- 3+ Years of experience in the design and delivery of product design and manufacturing, experience in architectural projects is an advantage, with proven track record of project / product delivery.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, CNC processes, product design, architectural design is an advantage.
- Capable of working in a fast paced, product manufacturing environment. Where working under pressure on multiple projects suits your efficiency to perform well.
- Articulate, passionate and persuasive communicator able to demonstrate solutions and technical details to professionals and clients.
- Team player with a flexible, positive, open attitude; a belief that problems and challenges become opportunities for growth.
- Ability to drive the company vehicle to site meetings, project meetings and clients.
- Strong communication skills, English speaking. Afrikaans is beneficial.
