Job Responsibilities
- Assists the Dispatch Manager with control of the Warehouse and Dispatch Department
- Controls the flow of finished goods, from the factory to dispatch and loading
- Liaises with other branches to coordinate intercompany orders and deliveries
- Ensures orders are checked against picking slips
- Supervises and assists with the loading of all orders
- Plans and schedules transport with company vehicles and third-party transporters
- Ensures timely delivery of all orders
- Liaises with internal staff and transporters to resolve queries
- Ensures a safe working environment and adheres to housekeeping standards
- National Senior Certificate
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics - advantageous
- 2-5 years experience in a dispatch capacity
- Previous experience in a Warehouse environment
- Experience in a steel manufacturing environment – advantageous
- Technical aptitude
- Computer Literacy
- Ability to work overtime

- Matric plus two years’ experience
- Experience with buying within a manufacturing concern or print/signage/metal concern
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with procurement software
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Technically minded and passionate about his industry
- Highly organised, able to work under pressure and results-driven
- Researching and identifying reliable suppliers for signage materials and components
- Negotiating favourable terms and pricing agreements with vendors
- Collaborating with the design and production teams to understand technical requirements
- Tracking inventory levels and maintaining accurate procurement records
- Assisting in the development of procurement strategies to optimize cost-efficiency without compromising quality
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
- Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Ability to travel.
- Assist Project Managers with technical advice.
- Communicate time delays on stock with factory manager.
- Source new suppliers.
- Attend to ADHOC projects as and when requested by Management or as required by operational procedures.
- Adhering to high ethical and professional standards.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure workspace is kept neat.

- Procurement of consumables, raw materials, and any other items required by the company.
- Ensures adequate stock levels and timely ordering.
- Maintains stock levels in line with minimum stock levels and respective sales forecasts to avoid stock depletion.
- Sourcing and purchasing of buy-outs as per requisitions.
- Identifies alternative suppliers to improve pricing, delivery lead times, and BEE procurement targets.
- Conducts reviews of existing and potential suppliers in accordance with procurement principles (cost, quality, lead time, BEE compliance).
- Liaises with internal stakeholders to determine buying requirements.
- Liaises with other Company buyers to assess suppliers and discuss volume discounts.
- Identifies unused or obsolete stock and returns to suppliers if possible.
- Ensures purchasing principles are followed (i.e., competitive pricing, compliance, quality, availability, and purchase order lead time).
- Manages and adheres to purchasing procedures that conform to Company standards.
- Enhances and manages supplier performance and promotes fair dealing.
- Ensures best pricing is obtained through market research.
- Facilitates the relationship between suppliers and sales functions.
- Maintains monthly spreadsheets to control the receiving of all diesel deliveries.
- Conducts dipstick readings on diesel tanks for comparison to theoretical readings and investigates any variances.
Receiving Control:
- Inspect and verify quantities received of goods ordered, ensuring that goods received correspond to the order.
- Ensure physical quantities of goods received correspond to the supplier delivery note.
- National Senior Certificate.
- Tertiary qualification - Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement/Supply Chain or similar - preferred.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a similar role within a manufacturing/steel environment.
