About

As the Data Analytics Lead at Lokalise, you will spearhead our data analytics initiatives and foster a data-driven culture across the company. Your leadership will ensure that comprehensive, end-to-end analytics support our product and growth strategy, empowering decision-making and innovation at every level.

This full-time, remote role demands a visionary leader passionate about leveraging data to unlock insights, optimize performance, and drive growth.

You Will

  • Build and Mentor: lead a team of data analysts and scientists, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Lead and Expand Analytics Vision: develop and implement a comprehensive analytics strategy that aligns with our product and growth objectives, overseeing all aspects of company data analytics from collection to interpretation.
  • Build and consolidate our data foundations ensuring the data analytics team’s present and future, enhancing and consolidating future analysis.
  • Develop and Maintain a Single Source of Truth: own the design, development, automation, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards on the key drivers of our business
  • Foster Data-Driven Culture: champion the use of data in strategic decision-making, ensuring data accessibility and literacy across all departments.
  • Collaborate and Influence: work closely with finance, product, engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure that analytics insights inform product development, go-to-market strategies, and customer experiences.
  • Work hand-to-hand with our Product team to define our Tracking plan, and make sure we observe and understand our users across the product funnel 360º.
  • Drive Innovation: Identify opportunities for data to create competitive advantage and support new product features or business models.
  • Ensure Data Integrity: Oversee the development and maintenance of robust data infrastructure, data governance policies, and privacy standards to ensure data accuracy and security.

You Must Have

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data analytics, preferably in a product-led growth company, with a proven track record of leveraging data to drive decision-making and growth.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing analytics teams.
  • Proficiency in analytics and data tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Metabase, DBT, Kafka, etc.) and knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies across different organizational levels.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree/ Diploma in Information Technology
  • Experience with Video Analytics, computer vision, YOLO, OpenCV or other deep learning technologies
  • Tertiary qualification in Machine Learning principles and implementation
  • A minimum 5 years experience in an IT role
  • Experience with IP video management systems and video analytics
  • Experience working with IP video surveillance cameras.

Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Data Analytics & AI Lead in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. Qualifications And Competencies


  • 8+ years of relevant experience in data architecture, data management and data modelling
  • Extensive experience in data architecture, particularly within a modern data environment utilizing Azure Databricks, dbt, Terraform, and Azure DevOps.
  • Significant hands-on experience in data engineering, including but not limited to the development and optimization of data pipelines, data modelling, and data lakehouse.
  • Proven track record in leading the development and expansion of large-scale data platforms, preferably within a Modern Data Architecture deployment.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud-based data solutions, particularly within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data analysts, and data engineers.
  • Interest in data analytics trends and advancements, e.g. AI, Industry 4.0
  • Expertise in SQL and Python for advanced data manipulation, modelling, analysis, and processing within a Data Lakehouse context.

Main purpose of position Currently we are looking for a Data Analytics & AI Lead in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Data Analytics & AI Lead you will lead the design and expansion of the Data & Analytics Platform through hands-on work in Azure Databricks, work closely with global teams and Digital & IT to align data needs and integrate solutions, drive adoption of data-driven workflows in partnership with business stakeholders, and develop AI use cases that support strategic decisions.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of data analytics and AI strategies to drive business growth and innovation.
  • Oversee the design and execution of data-driven projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Guide the platform's evolution by adopting Modern Data Architecture practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps for agile development and operations (DataOps).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data analytics and AI solutions into existing systems and processes, ensuring seamless adoption and scalability.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI and data analytics, incorporating relevant insights into strategic planning and execution.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Work closely with the Head of Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment and integration of the Data & Analytics Platform within the broader enterprise architecture landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information

Qualifications and competencies

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in data architecture, data management and data modelling
  • Extensive experience in data architecture, particularly within a modern data environment utilizing Azure Databricks, dbt, Terraform, and Azure DevOps.
  • Significant hands-on experience in data engineering, including but not limited to the development and optimization of data pipelines, data modelling, and data lakehouse.
  • Proven track record in leading the development and expansion of large-scale data platforms, preferably within a Modern Data Architecture deployment.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud-based data solutions, particularly within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data analysts, and data engineers.
  • Interest in data analytics trends and advancements, e.g. AI, Industry 4.0
  • Expertise in SQL and Python for advanced data manipulation, modelling, analysis, and processing within a Data Lakehouse context.
  • Familiar with modern data transformation tools, such as dbt
  • Strong experience with Azure cloud data services, particularly those relevant to Data Lakehouse architecture such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, and related technologies.
