Our client has an incredible opportunity for a 'Technical Coordinator' to join their team in Citrusdal, where you will be managing and implementing IPM programs across various sites in the Winelands region.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Field Support & Pest Monitoring: Assist the Program Manager by delivering weekly pest monitoring services (e.g., FCM, FF, BD, CM) through orchard visits, data analysis, and reporting from release to recapture and infestation
• Regional Assistance & Orchard Oversight: Provide technical support across major agricultural regions in the Winelands, visit orchards with high pest pressure or poor sanitation, identify causes, and give scientific recommendations with follow-up actions
• Program Coordination & Customer Support: Support the Program Manager with customer onboarding, weekly client interactions, and ensure scheduled orchard visits and reporting are conducted timely and accurately
• Operational & Quality Monitoring: Oversee IPM field tests, monitor pest flight peaks, manage moth distribution logistics (quality, age, ratios), and ensure field trap data collection and quality control measures are implemented
• Information & Protocol Management: Maintain program data and documentation, coordinate standardization of protocols across departments nationally, and participate in internal meetings and presentations to support program goals

Requirements:

• Degree in Entomology or similar field. (Bsc, Hons)
• Knowledge of pest management products, IPM systems and implementation in citrus will receive preference
• Good understanding of insect biology and ecology in agro-ecosystems
• Excellent Computer, report writing and data skills (Microsoft package)
• Valid driver’s license, Travel will be required in this position

• Applying the correct accounting principles and ensuring that all procedures are in compliance with IFRS;

Job Purpose
The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunitiy for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render technical services and support in engineering research, design, manufacturing, operations and maintenance.
