The Role & Responsibilities
As our Technical Manager , you’ll be at the heart of shaping fruit quality, compliance, and sustainability across the entire value chain:
- Provide expert guidance to producers on Soil, Plant Health, Pest Control , and Agri-Tech innovations
- Drive technical administration across key categories:
- PPP Lists / MRL Monitoring
- Audits & Compliance: GlobalGAP, SIZA, IFS
- New cultivar development & field monitoring
- Work closely with packhouses, producers, and international clients
- Support key product categories: Table Grapes, Pomegranates, Stone Fruit, Citrus
- Align with internal teams: Logistics, Marketing, Finance
- Champion sustainable and productive agricultural practices
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Viticulture, Horticulture, Soil Science , or related field
- 5+ years of experience in technical agriculture or produce export
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (writing, reading, and speaking)
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
- Willingness to travel frequently , including internationally
- Energetic, detail-oriented, and solution-driven personality

Assist the Technical Manager and marketing team on administration, quality inspections and audits for fruit commodities.
Salary: R30,000 – R40,000 per month (experience-based).

Key Responsibilities:

- Quality Control Inspections
- Conduct product checks for table grapes, stone fruit, citrus, and more—at orchards and packhouses.
- International Client Liaison

- Packaging Order Support
- Help producers place timely and accurate orders for approved packaging materials.
- Buffer Stock Coordination

- Administrative Support
- Assist the Technical Manager and marketing team with compliance-related admin tasks.
- Technical Assistance to Producers
- Provide hands-on support to ensure product and operational standards are upheld.
- Audit Preparation & Participation
- Guide producers through audits and assist with documentation and on-site requirements.
- Due Diligence Follow-up
- Communicate with consignees to ensure timely delivery of due diligence documentation.
- IFS Audit Support
- Contribute to preparation and coordination efforts during International Featured Standards (IFS) audits.
Minimum Requirements:
- More than 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
- Experience in fruit commodities like table grapes, stone fruit, citrus, and more will be advantageous.
- Having strong teamwork and collaboration with the other teams are key to the position.
- Have strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for sustainable and productive agricultural practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Outlook; Excel & PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel.
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture Viticulture, or in any Agricultural related fields.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Applying the correct accounting principles and ensuring that all procedures are in compliance with IFRS;
- Responsible for financial reporting, including budgets, forecasting, Statutory and Tax year-end packs;
- Responsible for financial evaluation and final editing of capital applications and post-implementation reports;
- Assists with audits and ensures compliance with internal control requirements;
- Ensures that the journal entries of the financial accountants are properly recorded and authorized;
- Review GL accounts. Ensure that the allocation of costs is at all times reasonable and correct;
- Prepares, completes and issues the monthly financial overview of business units;
- Review the monthly balance sheet reconciliations completed by the financial accountants;
- Determines and reviews the financial viability of any capital expenditure proposal;
- Monitors capex projects with regard to actual expenditure vs. approved expenditure;
- Ensures that the GL agrees at all times with the fixed asset register;
- Monitors the physical counts of fixed assets to ensure that the fixed assets of the business units get counted during a financial year on a pre-determined timetable;
- Investigates and evaluates the financial systems and controls of the business units;
- Assist in implementation of new financial systems when required;
- Ensures that inventory cycle counts are performed at units, according to a pre-determined timetable;
- Ensures that all inventory adjustments are properly authorised;
- Compiles annual budget pack from budget working files;
- Facilitates and does final preparation of weekly forecast of business units;
- Prepares and completes financial year-end packs of the general ledger sites;
- Assist in statutory year-end and tax pack from various financial sources and working files;
- Management of staff according to budgetary controls, company policy and sound management principles;
- Analysing the current level of insurance and making adjustments as necessary to ensure appropriate cover;
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
- B. Com minimum 10 years’ post-article experience or CIMA or CA qualification.
- Advanced knowledge in the use of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets and word.
- Must have experience in budgeting procedures, financial reporting and analysis, cost analysis and standard costing; capital application processing;
- Assertive, motivated and with strong supervisory skills;
- Willing to travel to Standerton when required.
- Converse fluently in both English & an additional official language;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as problem-solving and planning skills are required;
- The ability to build a strong finance team, and train & develop staff, together with personal and professional integrity are key requirements.
