JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY : Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for the part-time position of Adjunct Teaching Faculty. The University welcomes culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge.
The Aerospace Engineering Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach day and/or evening classes. Part-time faculty positions are created to provide an available applicant pool for the department. Positions will be filled on an as-needed basis. Start dates will vary by course and term. Applications will remain in the pool until the posting closes.
JOB DESCRIPTION : An Adjunct Teaching Faculty will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses with various options for on-campus and online delivery. All courses listed in the WPI undergraduate and graduate catalog under the Aerospace Engineering curriculum are of interest. Applicants should specifically identify which courses would be the best fit for their expertise.
An ideal applicant will hold an advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline. Prior experience as an instructor or a teaching assistant at the college level is required. Relevant industry experience is also valued. Responsibilities include teaching from an established course syllabus but with the addition of personal expertise and experience; conducting office hours; grading the course assessments; providing students with timely feedback; and providing materials used in course evaluations.

Job DescriptionThis role reports to the Senior Mechanical Engineer. The incumbent will lead the development and execution of R&D projects aimed at improving existing and developing new marine mining and recovery systems and equipment.
Responsibilities- Mechanical Design – design mechanical systems for mining applications, coordinate system integration, maintain drawing and mining tool enhancement details.
- Technical Oversight – develop and review technical specifications and tender documents, oversee mechanical fabrication quality, conduct engineering analyses and evaluate equipment suitability.
- System Improvement & Readiness – understand, analyze and improve effectiveness/efficiency of existing mining/sampling systems, support operational readiness of new systems, conceptualize, evaluate and develop new mining/sampling systems.
- Test Facilities & Data Analysis – coordinate or manage R&D projects, support design, upgrade, and maintenance of test facilities, integrate and commission scale test models, analyze test data and draw conclusions on improving mining tool and recovery performance.
- Design Coordination & Standards – lead mechanical design standards and task coordination, implement and maintain CAD and configuration management systems.
- Knowledge Management & Technology Transfer – assimilate knowledge into appropriate format, disseminate technology/know-how through reports, presentations, and discussion.
- Financial Management – manage departmental budget and control expenditure, ensure compliance with procurement contracts and financial procedures.
- Client & Reporting – liaise with clients on technical matters, prepare reports on system and sub‑system designs.

- Operational Deployment – the incumbent may be required to go to sea as and when required.
- Formal qualifications – BSc Eng / BEng / BTech Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Mining, or Naval Engineering; MSc Eng / MEng will be advantageous.
