This is a challenging and rewarding role involving work across multiple life insurance product lines for Gen Re internally as well as our diverse client base.
- Preparing quotations for new business and reviews of existing business for both Group and Individual Life business across multiple product lines.
- Analysis and assessment of life and health reinsurance portfolios for the purposes of risk management, experience studies, planning and quotation.
- Developing new products and assisting clients with revisions to existing products.
- Monitoring and provision of management information statistics.
- Maintaining the Company’s pricing guidelines, pricing tools and treaty wording standards.
- Undertaking focussed research, which will generate competitive advantage through superior understanding of risk.
- Creating an image of the company as a thought leader through client interactions, industry involvement, publications, and presentations.
- Managing client relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified actuary with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Prior work experience in life insurance pricing, product development or reinsurance is an advantage.
- The ability to work in a methodical manner with good numerical and analytical skills.
- Able to multi-task and work under pressure in meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly when in new situations or dealing with clients.
- The ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Contributing to forecasted IFRS 17 profit calculations for annual budgets and re-forecasting cycles.

Assisting with the completion of quantitative reporting templates for statutory solvency reporting.

Fellow Requirements:
8+ years’ actuarial experience in the life insurance sector, particularly in valuation, reporting, or capital management.
Honours Degree in Actuarial Science (or equivalent).
Strong working knowledge of IFRS 17.
Experience with actuarial modelling software (e.g., Prophet).
Exposure to data visualisation tools (Power BI or similar) advantageous.

Excellent opportunity for a highly experienced SENIOR VALUATIONS ACTUARY (Employee Benefits) to assist the head of the Employee Benefits actuarial valuations team with taking ownership of key reporting responsibilities and the associated analysis around assumptions and results.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesKEY PURPOSE
The team is responsible for all actuarial valuations work for the Group Risk and Umbrella Fund businesses. The key tasks for the role include monthly experience reporting, quarterly regulatory reporting, semi-annual valuation reporting, and various actuarial analytics projects.
The work involves managing the processes for completion of reporting tasks, analysing and giving input on key actuarial metrics to assist in management decision making, and working with teams across the business to help improve different aspects of the product offering. The role will have direct reports.
- Taking ownership of the monthly actuarial experience process and producing reports for the head of the team and senior management to inform their decision making
- Completing bi-annual actuarial valuations and experience reports for sign-off of valuation results
- Semi-annual, in-depth, experience analyses to assist with setting assumptions
- Setting the annual budgets and capital plan for the business
- Development and maintenance of existing models and processes to drive efficiencies and ensure all methodologies and assumptions remain relevant and up to date
- Maintaining and updating data controls and systems

- Bachelor’s / Honours degree in Actuarial Science from an accredited institution
