Job Description
- Current registration with SANC as a Registered General Nurse or equivalent qualification.
- Postgraduate diploma in Medical/Surgical Nursing:
- Postgraduate diploma in Nursing Education or equivalent as accredited by SANC
- Assessorship certified
- Knowledge of scope of practice of all Nursing categories as well as the regulations of the SANC
- Previous experience as an educator / facilitator /mentor would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to initiate and implement continuous improvement projects
- An established interest in staff development
- A critical aptitude with regard to patient quality care
- Drivers license / own transport
- Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Flexible shifts to accommodate all shifts.
- Reports to the Nursing Services Manager
- Responsible for the facilitation of teaching and learning of the theoretical and clinical component in a clinical setting
- Integral part of the nursing team with the primary focus of bed side teaching through demonstration, job shadowing, role modelling mentoring and guidance at the bedside of all processes
- The integration and mitigation of risk management at the bedside will be a primary objective to reduce risk to the group and improve patient outcomes
- Provide services for both the in-service and formal clinical training programs through the coordination of learning opportunities, at both the formal and informal level
- Support evidence-based practice by encouraging participation in research.
- The Clinical Facilitator will play an integral role in the upskilling of staff to use equipment, and consumables safely in accordance safely in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.
- Assess staff competence according to Groups standards and protocols
- Plan, prepare, implement, and manage the education and training requirements of new employees and rerouted staff
- Design and implement CPD program
- Support and facilitate staff and students to reach specific learning objectives

Job PurposeTo facilitate the development of learners in academic and clinical competence, professional development, and the integration of knowledge, skills, and attributes in simulated and real nursing practice. Responsibilities include academic and clinical teaching, clinical accompaniment, academic administration, nursing instruction, and simulation activities. The role supports the department and faculty in achieving academic goals and enhancing the teaching and learning environment, implementing a work-integrated learning approach in a technological setting.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- A three-year qualification in general nursing and midwifery or a four-year qualification in Nursing.
- At least three years of training or clinical experience in nursing.
- Registration with SANC as a general nurse, midwife, and nurse educator.
- Qualification in a nursing clinical specialization is advantageous.
- Facilitate the clinical component of undergraduate and postgraduate programs with clinical facilities.
- Oversee learner wellness and implement disciplinary measures with record-keeping.
- Conduct teaching and assessments for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Engage with stakeholders to support development.
- Monitor learner progress within technological learning environments.
- Manage skills laboratory and clinical activities, ensuring compliance and coordinating rosters.
- Maintain quality assurance through administrative records.
- Possess appropriate academic and clinical knowledge in Nursing Science or Primary Health Care.
- Create conducive learning environments for classroom and clinical education.
- Work independently and collaboratively as a role model.
- Apply planning, organizational, leadership, and administrative skills.
- Utilize computer literacy and technological approaches.
- Be a continuous learner and work ethically.
