- Current registration with SANC as a Registered General Nurse or equivalent qualification.
- Postgraduate diploma in Medical / Surgical Nursing :
- Postgraduate diploma in Nursing Education or equivalent as accredited by SANC
- Assessorship certified
- Knowledge of scope of practice of all Nursing categories as well as the regulations of the SANC
- Previous experience as an educator / facilitator / mentor would be advantageous

Key Outputs :
- Reports to the Nursing Services Manager
- Responsible for the facilitation of teaching and learning of the theoretical and clinical component in a clinical setting
- Integral part of the nursing team with the primary focus of bed side teaching through demonstration, job shadowing, role modelling mentoring and guidance at the bedside of all processes
- The integration and mitigation of risk management at the bedside will be a primary objective to reduce risk to the group and improve patient outcomes
- Provide services for both the in-service and formal clinical training programs through the coordination of learning opportunities, at both the formal and informal level
- Support evidence-based practice by encouraging participation in research.
- The Clinical Facilitator will play an integral role in the upskilling of staff to use equipment, and consumables safely in accordance safely in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.
- Assess staff competence according to Groups standards and protocols
- Plan, prepare, implement, and manage the education and training requirements of new employees and rerouted staff
- Design and implement CPD program
- Support and facilitate staff and students to reach specific learning objectives

Job Description
A vacancy exists for a Clinical Facilitator (College-based) reporting to the AHC Principal . The successful candidate will be responsible for co-coordinating and delivering clinical nurse training to ensure competent qualified nurses and students in line with nursing objectives.
Critical OutputsClinical Teaching:
- Management of the simulation laboratory
- Compiling of lesson plans for clinical teaching
- Demonstrate clinical procedures in the simulation laboratory
- Clinical accompaniment and structured clinical guidance in the accredited clinical facilities
- Design evaluation tools for clinical procedures
- Assess students for clinical competency
- Moderate clinical assessments
Theory Teaching:
- Compiling of lesson plans
- Setting tests, assignments, workbooks and examinations (according to Bloom’s taxonomy)
- Marking and moderating of tests and exams
- Design or assist with short courses
- Present short courses to the clinical facilities of the Africa Health Care as part of in-service training
Administrative responsibilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Assist with registration and completion of students with SANC
- Record all student activities: class attendance, marks, consultations, clinical hours(timesheets)
- Supporting quality assurance initiatives in nursing education
- Willingness to travel to other provinces and clinical facilities
- Willingness to do overtime
- Registered Nurse with SANC
- Basic Qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration as a Professional Nurse
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a qualification higher
- Post basic qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing Education.
- Post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing
- Post basic qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree) in Nursing Administration/Management.
- Minimum of 3 (three) years appropriate/recognised nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse
- At least a period of 3 (three) years of appropriate experience in Nursing Education after obtaining a post basic qualification
- Proof of registration with SANC for Assessor and Moderator
- BLS instructor certificate is an advantage
- Experience in mentoring a specific group of students
- Knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to the management of a Nursing Education Institution
