Objective/target of the job:

To provide comprehensive electrical design packages, including power distribution, control systems, and detailed specifications for water and wastewater projects, while supporting construction, motor control centre (MCC) building, and commissioning activities.

Core tasks / responsibilities

Core tasks:

Develop and review electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

Design power distribution systems, motor control centres (MCCs), and panel layouts for industrial applications.

Specify and select electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation.

Prepare technical specifications, bills of quantities (BOQs), and load distribution documentation for electrical works.

Conduct load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination tests.

Develop and implement control system architectures, including PLC and SCADA systems.

Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems on-site.

Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment of electrical designs with project requirements.

Participate in project meetings and liaise with clients and stakeholders regarding electrical deliverables.

Educational background:

BEng, B-tech or N6 Electrical engineering.

About the Role

As part of
SENET's
Electrical & C&I Engineering team, you'll develop and review electrical designs that perform reliably under challenging operational conditions. You'll take ownership of design integrity, cost efficiency, and technical compliance from concept to commissioning.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll collaborate with process, mechanical, and instrumentation specialists to deliver integrated, fit-for-purpose solutions for major mining projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering:

• Develop and maintain Engineering Design Criteria and technical documentation

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, ETAP and electrical design tools
• Experience with project management systems and engineering documentation control
• Exposure to 11 kV–33 kV reticulation systems or plant power distribution
