  • Provide quotation and implement all changes related to process and production system and / or related to the product

Production System Development

  • Lead the Production Line definition using standard group methodologies : Equipment Design Workshop & Cardboard Workshop and FECT standard equipments together with program and plant support team
  • Responsible for Initial Equipment Concept, long lead time and standard lead time Equipment, Tooling and Gages specifications.
  • Provide PM with the inputs for CAR (Capital Expenditure Request) preparation.
  • Manage Capacity studies for existing equipment / capital through process experts & specialists
  • Manage CAPex spending within the Program budget. Manage vendor timeline for Equipment, Tools and Gages
  • Validate design of Equipment, Tools and Gages at supplier together with IPL
  • Provide PM with manufacturing data for product costing including CAPex, Work-Content, material consumption, Launch Costs.

The PML supervises the following activities led by the IPL(s)

  • Support Production preparation and ramp-up : Plant Launch Readiness initiated
  • Support pre-acceptance (run-off) of Equipment, Tools and Gages at supplier
  • Support all Process FMEA defined actions
  • Contribute to Process Qualification and Production Part Approval Process including Run @ Rate : Production Trial (PT) and Mass Production Trial (MPT) Extended Mass Production Trial (EMPT) for all production lines

Targets and reporting

  • During the acquisition phase, propose industrial objectives of the program (Capex, work-content / DL, scrap / rework / cycle times / tool change over times, material costs, launch costs…)
  • Consolidate and Validate quality of deliverables of manufacturing work-packages / PMS Mandatory Deliverables & other inputs needed for Program Functional Milestones Reviews
  • Achieve all manufacturing program objectives together with plant(s) at each Gate Review.

POSITION INFO : Position Summary

As the Warehouse & Material Flow Manager , you will be responsible for overseeing all inbound, internal, and outbound material flow within a high-mix, low-volume automotive manufacturing environment

This includes managing receiving, storage, kitting, line-side delivery, and return processes to ensure uninterrupted production and inventory accuracy The ideal candidate brings proven leadership in OEM or automotive manufacturing, with strong expertise in lean warehousing, material planning, and cross-functional coordination to support production continuity and operational excellence

Position plays a critical role in supporting operational continuity, inventory accuracy, and production readiness in a custom-engineered, high-mix, low-volume OEM manufacturing facility

The role requires strong leadership, planning, analytical, and systems skills, as well as deep experience in lean warehousing, kitting, and material presentation strategies

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, inbound receiving, storage, internal movement, and point-of-use delivery to support just-in-time production
  • Ensure smooth and accurate kitting, line feeding, material returns, and replenishment processes across production shifts to eliminate downtime and disruptions
  • Develop and implement a cross-functional, fully integrated planning process covering make buy decisions, scheduling, capacity, material planning, and cost optimization
  • Analyse customer demand, sales forecasts, and usage trends to execute both build-to-order and build-to-forecast material strategies
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure on-time delivery and optimal material availability

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to meet growth, cost, and delivery goals, including make vs. buy analysis and risk mitigation
  • Manage supplier relationships, including scorecard development, KPI tracking, and regular performance reviews
  • Enforce company policies related to procurement, inventory control, supplier compliance, and ethical sourcing
  • Participate in CAPA / CAR processes to resolve supplier or material-related quality issues
  • Lead warehouse and material handling teams to ensure safety, efficiency, and high-performance culture
  • Contribute to operational readiness for new vehicle model launches by managing material readiness and BOM accuracy
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, track variances, and implement corrective cost control measures
  • Support site-wide lean manufacturing initiatives, including Kanban, supermarket strategies, visual management, and pull systems
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in warehouse and material movement areas
  • Stay current with industry best practices, material handling automation, and ERP / MRP innovations to improve processes and performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in materials management, warehousing, or logistics in a manufacturing or OEM production environment
  • Deep understanding of inventory management, line-side material delivery systems, warehouse layout optimization, and ERP / MRP functionality
  • Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships and sourcing strategies within a complex build-to-order or custom manufacturing setup
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams, including warehouse, logistics, sourcing, and material planning functions

Job Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Produce quality technical outputs which satisfy all requirements (Clients, Codes and Standards) by adhering to internal engineering processes. The position is a senior technical role requiring leadership qualities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • LV and MV Systems Engineering (conceptual & detail design and development of electrical systems and networks)
  • Design, specification, and execution of electrical systems for industrial plants
  • Design of LV & MV Motor Control Centres
  • Design of LV & MV industrial plant reticulation systems
  • Design of DC plant and battery systems
  • Design of renewable energy systems
  • Design of protection systems
  • Specification of Electrical Switchgear and Motor Protection Equipment
  • Design of cable networks and distribution systems
  • Lighting and small power designs
  • Design of earthing and lightning protection systems
  • Ensure design compliance with the South African Grid Code
  • Managing the electrical interfaces with other disciplines
  • Participation in and management of procurement and installation contracts and documentation, including tender evaluation.
  • Assistance during the fabrication phase of all projects
  • Assisting with tender compilation
  • Project cost estimations (including the compilation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Compilation of tender scope of work.
  • Assisting with testing and commissioning of electrical systems
  • Mentoring of junior personnel

Qualification And Experience

  • BSc (Eng) or B Eng degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience, especially in the Power Generation Industry.
  • Experience designing PV Systems.
  • Working knowledge of OHS Act and the Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the Environmental Legislation.
  • Working knowledge of SANS & IEC codes, Safety Management Standards and ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge and experience with the South African Grid Code.

COMPETENCIES

  • Good communication and technical report writing skill.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • The use of ETAP or DigSilent would be very beneficial.
  • Ability to operate under pressure in a team environment, must be a fast and accurate worker who is results driven.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Good planning, organizing, administration and time management skills.
  • Good people skills, assertiveness, and a pro-active disposition.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including traveling to project sites.
