Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Installations and Maintenance of security technology systems. As a Technician Level Two at GTSM, you will play a key role by Managing and leading in all aspects of the GTSM maintenance and installation teams.



Key Responsibilities of this Role:

1. Fulfil the maintenance services and complete associated documentation at the various designated support locations as indicated below in accordance to the standards of the security systems and safety/risk procedures.

2. You will report directly to the senior security technical supervisor/ GTSM manager who in his capacity will oversee and will be accountable for the responsibilities of the technicians as listed below.

3. Manage and lead his maintenance and installation team.

4. Manage and lead his maintenance and installation delivery.

5. Communicate regularly with Sibanye supervisors and management.

6. Keep good relationship with Sibanye and GTSM employees.

7. Manage high levels of health and safety on site at all times.

8. Perform regular site inspections.

9. Perform equipment inspections and control room inspections.

10. Complete site and new installations, quotations and project plans where necessary.

11. Alarm manager, Cathexis and system failure call outs will be attended to by Senior/Supervisor technician when Technician need assistance.

12. Complete site inspections and do quotations as requested per area of responsibilities set out by manager.



Main Activities of this role:

• Routine daily inspections and derive new notifications for faulty or non performing equipment.

• Do planned task list driven preventative maintenance on all current installations within the allowed time frames.

• Execute planned work that included improvements, repairs or replacements to current installations as well as new installations.

• Condition based maintenance.

• Execute breakdown maintenance based on the priority of equipment as highlighted by the procedure or on instruction of the security senior technician, senior technician, supervisor and manager.

• The accurate and timeous completion of maintenance work orders and schedules for all of the security equipment under the care of a technician must be handed back diligently in order to meet quality control targets that could affect his work performance.

• The execution of route cause failure analysis for equipment failures at all times that include all call-outs, breakdowns and any failures requested by the senior staff of Sibanye and the detailed documentation thereof as accurately as possible.

• Ongoing assessment and reporting of spare stock levels and the utilization of spares with the aim to provide early notice to Sibanye in order to prevent the depletion of spare stock capacity.

• The senior technician will be responsible for his own time management records and subsequent approval by the manager and of the technicians assigned under his supervision.

• The senior technician will be responsible for all necessary supporting documents like sick notes, leave forms, training nominations and other documents.

• Conduct weekly maintenance meetings. (File Inspections)

• Conduct weekly training sessions.

• Assist and mentor breakdown situations.

• Review objectives and actions against standards and procedures.

• Recognise achievements.

• Set monthly objectives.

• Compile a weekly maintenance/installation report.

• Deliver exceptional maintenance/installation service.

• Attend handover and site visits.

• Hold daily toolbox and safety talks.

• Manage vehicle fleet.

• Manage health and safety onsite.

• Manage tools.

Accurate and timeous reporting of all relevant safety and production matters

Maintain effective people management practice by ensuring that roles and competencies are clearly defined, and that effective team delivery is maintained

Coach and guide front line leaders (FLL) to assume and maintain effective and direct leadership accountability over their operational teams in respect of safety management, shift planning, work assignment and direction, planned task observations, etc

In conjunction with the FLL, coordinate and advise on operational logistics including stores, materials handling, equipment maintenance preparation and servicing to ensure end to end task planning, elimination of delays, etc

Refine and monitor the safe handling, storage and conveyance of explosives

Ensure the appropriate scheduling, loading, dispatching and return of all material cars to their respectful workplace

Participate in and contribute toward the development, adjustment and execution of operational plans and schedules

Investigate and analyse operational delivery effectiveness with a view to recommending and developing collaborative and innovative solutions to optimise the interfaces between teams, processes, and systems

Manage relationships with key internal, Business Partner and external stakeholders by ensuring broad accountability is maintained against operational delivery, service level, commercial, community and ethical standards and, resolve issues and/or escalating issues in a timely manner
