Technology Lead - Device & Connectivity Management

Job Description
The Technology Lead - Device & Connectivity Management is responsible for the strategic management and optimization of our global device ecosystem and wireless connectivity infrastructure. This role combines technical expertise with vendor management to ensure seamless integration of handheld devices, laptops, and mobile connectivity solutions that support our SaaS platform delivery. The position requires a hands-on leader who can drive cost optimization, vendor consolidation, and technical excellence while maintaining robust mobile device management across diverse global markets.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of device portfolios including handheld devices, laptops, and specialized hardware used with our SaaS solutions
- Evaluate, specify, and procure both off-the-shelf and custom-built devices based on business requirements and technical specifications
- Develop and maintain device lifecycle management processes from procurement through deployment to retirement
- Establish technical standards and compatibility requirements for all devices interfacing with our SaaS platform
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure optimal device performance and user experience
- Manage relationships with multiple global wireless connectivity providers and device manufacturers
- Lead vendor consolidation initiatives to reduce complexity and achieve cost savings
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service level agreements with technology vendors
- Challenge vendor proposals and technical specifications to ensure optimal value delivery
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee enterprise-wide mobile device management strategy and implementation
- Ensure security compliance and policy enforcement across all managed devices
- Manage device provisioning, configuration, and remote management capabilities
- Implement and maintain device security protocols and access controls
- Monitor device performance, usage analytics, and compliance reporting
Global Connectivity Management
- Manage wireless connectivity solutions across multiple geographic regions
- Optimize data plans, roaming agreements, and network performance for global operations
- Coordinate with local teams to ensure connectivity solutions meet regional requirements
- Monitor network performance, coverage, and cost efficiency across all markets
- Develop contingency plans for connectivity disruptions and network failures
- Drive cost optimization initiatives across device and connectivity spending
- Develop and manage budgets for device procurement and connectivity services
- Analyze total cost of ownership for device and connectivity solutions
- Prepare business cases for technology investments and vendor changes
- Track and report on key performance indicators and cost metrics
People Management
- Sets clear productivity and quality objectives for the assigned staff and tracks progress on an individual basis
- Motivates staff and strengthens teamwork. Identify training needs and take actions for further development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of mobile device management (MDM) platforms and enterprise mobility solutions
- Strong knowledge of wireless technologies including 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IoT connectivity
- Experience with device provisioning, configuration management, and remote device administration
- Familiarity with mobile operating systems (iOS, Android) and enterprise security protocols
- Understanding of SaaS architecture and device integration requirements
- Knowledge of global telecommunications regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven track record in vendor negotiation and contract management
- Experience in cost optimization and vendor consolidation projects
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating total cost of ownership and ROI
- Ability to develop and present compelling business cases to senior leadership
- Experience managing multi-million dollar technology budgets and procurement processes

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels
- Strong presentation skills for executive reporting and vendor meetings
- Ability to challenge and negotiate with technology vendors and service providers
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity for managing global vendor relationships

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in technology leadership roles with focus on device management
- 3+ years of experience in vendor management and contract negotiation
- Experience managing global technology operations and multi-vendor environments
- Track record of successful cost optimization and vendor consolidation initiatives
- Experience with enterprise mobility solutions and mobile device management platforms
