POSITION : SHEQ MANAGER
SITE : BOKSBURG
DIVISION : CORRUGATED GAUTENG
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Responsible for complete operation of the production function within the plant (Corrugator, Printing, Smalls, Services, Material Handling and Waste). Responsible for people (Health & Safety, development, productivity and motivation), machinery (safety, maintenance and performance), and waste (control, record and reduction). Responsible for 5S throughout the Manufacturing Plant.
REPORTING TO: OPERATION MANAGER
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure full compliance to applicable legislation
Appropriate and adequate procedural control measures
Sufficient physical safeguards (including safety PPE) for the hazards
Adequate controls for common risks such as slips, trips and falls
Adequate standards of housekeeping
Ensure training of ALL Employees and External contractors
Ensure the sufficient development & maintenance of safe operating procedures
Implementation of Health and Safety procedures
Implement SHEQ related continuous improvement projects
Maintain quality system and certification.
Ensure legal compliance to environmental laws
Measure impact of company's operations on the environment and improve annually (carbon footprint, emissions, etc.)
Identification of hazards
Day to day management of security
Close out of Insurable risks highlighted
Project Management- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
BCom Degree /NQF Level 7 SHEQ Management or related qualification.
2 years' experience in a manufacturing or FMCG Environment.
3 years' experience in a managerial role

Duties & Responsibilities- Manage and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the industrial product-manufacturing factory.
- Apply knowledge and experience relating to QA in terms of the hot working, forging, and pressing of steel products to ensure adherence to company manufacturing standards.
- Review and understand various manufacturing processes, identify and improve QA activities to prevent defective results.
- Establish a clearly defined QMS that is understandable and applicable by all production staff.
- Set up and maintain all QA control and documentation systems, collate and analyze product and process performance data.

- Investigate, develop, and improve existing SHE standards, systems, and procedures.
- Provide professional input and support regarding incidents, recommend corrective actions.
- Manage work-related injuries and diseases, promoting the health of workers.

Job Description
Lead and manage all SHEQ activities for the Construction division nationally, in alignment with company and client standards.
Ensure legal compliance with OHSA and MHSA, as applicable, including relevant regulations and standards.
Oversee the compilation, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Safety files and Contractor packs for allocated sites / projects.
Coordinate and support Safety Officers working within the designated business department (Construction).
Conduct scheduled site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
Drive incident investigations and root cause analysis; ensure effective close-outs and preventive actions.
Represent the business during external audits and inspections.
Deliver monthly and ad-hoc SHEQ reports to the National SHEQ Manager.
Promote and uphold a strong safety culture and ensure proactive risk management throughout the operational or construction lifecycle.
Lead SHEQ planning and resourcing for tenders and project kick-off phases within the designated department
Track and ensure close-out of non-conformances, near misses, and audit findings, maintaining a live corrective action register.
Engage directly with clients, contractors, and authorities on SHEQ compliance matters, representing the company in inspections and reviews.
Monitor contractor compliance and performance, including evaluating safety files and competencies before site mobilisation.
Contribute to SHEQ performance reporting for Exco or Board-level dashboards, including leading indicators, risk trends, and interventions.
Drive cross-site learning and best practice sharing, helping build a proactive SHEQ culture across teams.
COMPETENCY PROFILE Related Experience
Minimum 8 years' experience as a Safety Manager or similar, in a multi-site construction environment.
Demonstrated experience in Construction under MHSA as well as OHSA legislative frameworks.
Experience in the Mining, Petrochemical, Power Generation, and Water Treatment sectors advantageous
Qualifications
BTech / Advanced Diploma in Safety Management (NQF level 7)Essential
Other Requirements
Own transport and valid drivers license; willing to travel extensively
SACPCMP registration at CHSM levelEssential
Proven ability to manage HSEC and Passport systems, and paper-based compliance documentation.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (MHSA & OHSA)
Excellent communication, leadership, and administrative skills
High attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure
