  • Solid experience in conceptualizing interaction design, transitions and animations.

A creative and empathetic UX Designer who is passionate about simplifying complex digital journeys. You will play a key role in designing intuitive, user-friendly experiences across web, mobile apps, and WhatsApp-based tools for both Asuer and Botle Buhle Brands (BBB). As our UX Designer, you will work across Asuer and BBB, translating complex processes into clear, human-centred user experiences. You’ll be responsible for designing user journeys that feel intuitive, especially for users with limited digital literacy who are transitioning from selling products door-to-door to managing finances and services through apps and WhatsApp.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, marketers, and operations leads. Whether it’s a fintech dashboard, a mobile insurance onboarding journey, or a WhatsApp chatbot flow, you will ensure that every touchpoint is designed with clarity, empathy, and effectiveness.   • Designing user-centric journeys and wireframes for websites, mobile applications, and WhatsApp interfaces.
  • Conducting user research and usability testing to understand user needs, pain points, and feedback.
  • Working closely with product and engineering teams to iterate and refine features from concept to launch.
  • Collaborating with BBB’s field teams to ensure designs are understandable and practical for our sales force and customers.
  • Creating user personas and journey maps that reflect real-world usage and limitations.
  • Ensuring visual consistency and usability across all platforms, including alignment with BBB and Asuer brand styles.
  • Producing prototypes and design assets for development teams using tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
  • Contributing to the creation of onboarding experiences and support materials that simplify user adoption.
  • Championing accessibility and usability, especially for low-literate or first-time tech users.
Our requirements include. Technical skills in:
  • Proven experience designing digital products across web, mobile, and conversational platforms like WhatsApp
  • Strong proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first thinking
  • Experience working within design systems and contributing to UI libraries
  • Basic familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS) is a bonus but not required
  • Comfort working in Agile environments and contributing to iterative product development
Mustbe able to:
  • Balance business goals with user needs to create elegant, usable solutions
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights and intuitive designs
  • Facilitate design workshops or feedback sessions with internal stakeholders
  • Design flows and journeys that are understandable to non-digital native users
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and align design intent with implementation
  • Deliver high-quality UX documentation, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
  • Adapt quickly to feedback and iteration cycles
  • Empathise deeply with end-users, especially those with limited digital experience
Knowledge & experience:
  • Human-centred design and usability principles
  • Designing for multilingual, low-data, and mobile-first audiences
  • Creating WhatsApp chatbot flows and interfaces (or a willingness to learn)
  • Working with financial or telecom products (advantageous)
  • User testing in low-resource or offline environments
  • Designing for accessibility and inclusivity in South African contexts
Prerequisites:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates impact
