Our client is seeking an experienced Telecom Technical Project Lead to lead the rollout of Fiber network infrastructure across South African townships. This high-impact, time-sensitive initiative will connect 50,000 homes over the next six months, supporting digital access in underserved communities. The Lead will serve as a pivotal force in driving execution, aligning technical and stakeholder teams, and delivering exceptional infrastructure outcomes and will be responsible for end-to-end oversight of the Fiber network deployment, from permitting and contractor supervision to stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and ESG compliance.

Key Deliverables:
- Oversee full rollout of fiber network infrastructure, including passive (poles, fiber) and active (home connection) equipment phases.
- Supervise EPC contractor to ensure compliance with contract terms, timelines, quality standards, and budget.
- Manage relationships with local SMEs executing home-level installations.
- Lead all permitting efforts, including wayleave applications and coordination with public authorities.
- Support the executive team in selecting rollout areas, aligning with commercial strategy, permitting feasibility, and engineering inputs.
- Supervise testing and quality assurance in collaboration with an external engineering firm.
- Lead handover and final acceptance processes, ensuring all works are validated through testing protocols and payment approvals are compliant with engineering firm assessments.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of 5–10 internal staff and multiple ground-level subcontractors.
- Work closely with the sales department to synchronize rollout with customer acquisition strategy and activation timelines.
- Ensure integration of ESG policies into all project activities and supervise ESG Manager in implementation.
- Serve as the project's primary point of contact across internal and external stakeholders, providing structured reporting and communication to executive and board-level audiences.
Requirements Experience Required:
- Proven experience managing telecom infrastructure rollouts of 50,000+ connections.
- Strong background in supplier and contract management, particularly with EPC contractors and localized subcontractors.
- Track record in executing permitting processes (including wayleave applications) and coordinating high-level design submissions.
- Experience supervising infrastructure QA/testing processes alongside engineering firms.
- Familiarity with sales operations and customer connection logistics in telecom.
