This role requires expertise in several different areas, including:

  • Expert user of digital production platforms in the domain of computational and parametric engineering design; At least one of the following technology stacks: Revit + Dynamo, Rhino + Grasshopper. Knowledge of more than one platform, including Generative Components, will be considered as a plus.
  • Creator and author of definitions using out of the box nodes tools within the defined platforms. The ability to create and maintaining custom nodes using Python and/or C# is also preferrable.
  • Parametric modelling, creation and development of smart objects (i.e.: Revit Families using adaptive components), with customisable functionality and custom-built parameters for automation
  • Digital tools deployment, ensure that development is focused on production team usage, for example, automated workflows that can be operated by Revit users using Dynamo Player or Orkestra.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work with project teams to accurately capture the requirements of any workflow we are seeking to automate, to create a specification for the tools and content that will be required to achieve the automation aim.

  • Proven track record of design automation experience using the required platforms.

We’re currently expanding our team and seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to exciting new projects in sustainability, mechatronics, and cutting-edge hardware systems.

Position Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer and member of the Product Development Team, you will take on design responsibilities early in your role and are expected to execute tasks in a timely manner, with a strong focus on quality and collaboration. Your primary responsibility will be the development of high-performance mechanical components and systems for pioneering clean technology and climate-focused applications.

This is a hands-on, growth-oriented position ideal for someone with a solid engineering foundation who is eager to make a tangible impact on high-tech sustainability projects for international clients. Collaboration is essential, as design changes can influence other parts of the system and must be carefully coordinated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to design and develop complex mechanical systems and components.
  • Create and maintain 3D models and Technical Product Documentation (TPD) using CAD and PLM tools.
  • Execute design updates and revisions in compliance with client specifications.
  • Perform critical engineering calculations, including stress, flow, and thermal simulations by applying fundamental knowledge.
  • Engage in regular design reviews, contributing to innovation and system optimization.
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems into larger mechatronic platforms.
  • Stay up to date on industry innovations and sustainability-driven technologies.
  • Document specifications and design decisions in accordance with industry and client standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience , preferably involving machine design and experience in working on multiple different projects simultaneously (complex systems).
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor). Inventor is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing methods .
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) practices.
  • Experience or interest in CFD simulations for gas flows and heat transfer is advantageous.
  • Bonus: Exposure to vacuum systems, heat exchangers, or heat pumps is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; willingness to learn Dutch is encouraged.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, team-driven environment with high accountability.

Triz Engineering Solutions ( is a premium product engineering and development company specializing in end-to-end turn-key commercial vehicle development. We provide end to end engineering services for commercial vehicle engineering and development from feasibility and conceptualization, through productionization and service support. Our solutions include zero emissions such as battery electric- and fuel cell- as well as hybrid- or conventional powered products. We also offer solutions for other advanced vehicle technologies such as ADAS, vehicle autonomy and telematics. Our services are turnkey solutions that are validation tested and ready for mass production. Our product development expertise includes medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in applications such as delivery, bus, motorhome, off highway, refuse and several other specialized and vocational vehicle markets.

Requirements:
  • B Eng Degree or B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical design engineering experience (3 Years +)
  • 3D CAD experience
  • Willing to travel overseas for variable periods
  • South African Citizenship
  • 3+ Years of experience
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate task scope of work
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials and their representative 3D assemblies
  • Product data management
  • Create 3D parts and 2D part drawings to meet supplier and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with overseas suppliers and customer on designs
  • Conduct concept and design reviews
  • Learning to operate CAD software packages, PLM systems
  • Support the day-to-day activities of customers
  • Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for cost savings, service issues, and product improvements.
  • Interface with materials and purchasing on new part design and sourcing.
  • Interface with Analysis, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering to determine the most effective and economical use of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with the Product Regulation and Compliance staff to design products that meet government regulations, restrictions and codes.
