REQUIREMENTS

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Test – Red Seal or equivalent)
• Minimum of 3–5 years' post-qualification experience working on heavy construction equipment
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
• Experience with major construction vehicle brands (e.g. CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Bell, Hitachi) is essential
• Ability to read technical manuals and interpret schematics
• Valid driver’s license (code 8 minimum, code 10 or 14 advantageous)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel-powered construction vehicles and equipment used in the civil industry
• Ensure all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational requirements
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and servicing on a variety of heavy construction vehicles (e.g. excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, dump trucks, compactors, etc.)
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
• Perform repairs and part replacements, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and hydraulics
• Working knowledge of electrical repairs and diagnosis, as well as welding/ steel and brazing work as required
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
• Conduct pre-operational checks and inspections to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
• Respond to breakdowns and conduct on-site repairs where necessary
• Ensure all work is carried out per the company's safety standards and OEM specifications
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the workshop and tools
• Liaise with operators and site supervisors regarding equipment performance and maintenance requirements
• Order and manage spare parts and workshop inventory in collaboration with procurement

Main Job Functions:

As the Heavy Commercial Vehicles Call Centre Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of a dynamic call centre dedicated to supporting clients and stakeholders in the heavy commercial vehicle sector. Your leadership will ensure the team provides exceptional service, resolves issues efficiently, and maintains high customer satisfaction standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and evaluate the daily HCV call centre operations, liaising with internal stakeholders, service providers, and customers to ensure protocol     adherence.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of call centre agents, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Manage call queues, allocate resources effectively, and address any operational issues.
• Create and implement best practice HCV principles, policies and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance.
• Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team skills, knowledge, and performance, focusing on both technical aspects of heavy commercial vehicles and  customer service excellence.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing constructive feedback and implementing improvement plans as necessary.
• Conduct root cause analysis of failures and take corrective action.
• Recommend optimal towing modes 
• Resolve problems concerning tows, recoveries, GIT, Spillages etc. 
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities.
• Interpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful HCV data to others in the organization to aid customer service and cost improvements.
• Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess the ongoing performance of direct reports.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the HCV process.
• Ensure all completed cases are managed timeously.
• Ensure that the HCV vehicles are towed appropriately to reduce any damage.

• Ensure that product forwarded to other brances are received within the time span agreed
• Ensure that product received from Suppliers are unpacked timeously and checked before they are put on the shelves
• ADMINISTRATION
• Ensure that all staff are properly appointed and receive employment contracts
• Ensure that staff understand their goals and are regularly evaluated to measure performance
• Ensure that personnel policies and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure that all purchases and expenses are properly recorded and signed off
• Ensure that expenditure stays within budget parameters
• Ensure that all Assets of the Company are properly protected and maintained
• Prepare annual budgets for branch
• Study monthly management results and take corrective actions
