A Senior Level Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) is required to join the Environmental Planning and Advisory team within the mining sector.
The candidate will primarily undertake independent environmental assessments on large-scale mining projects both locally and internationally, ensuring compliance with local legislation and international best practices.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS- 4 to 7 years' experience in ESIA, Basic Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Management Plans, and Compliance Auditing, including ESDD consulting.
- Experience with mining projects is essential.
- EAPASA registration is required.
- Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation, especially MPRDA requirements.
- Honours degree or higher in environmental sciences; a Master's degree with research is preferred.
- At least 5 years' relevant work experience, with preference given to those with up to 7 years in environmental consulting.
- Project experience in the mining sector.
- Knowledge of international standards such as IFC Performance Standards, AfDB Safeguards, and the Equator Principles is advantageous.
- Conduct Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Basic Assessments, Environmental Management Plans, and Compliance Audits.
- Manage local and international projects across Africa.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders effectively.
- Lead public participation processes and manage project teams.
- Prepare proposals related to the above activities.
- Work independently and collaboratively.
- Possess strong technical report writing skills in English.
- Demonstrate effective project management and organizational skills.
- Be computer literate and detail-oriented.
- Hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within Sub-Saharan Africa if required.
- Proficiency in French (reading, writing, speaking).
- Experience publishing scientific papers relevant to the field.

- A Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Environmental Engineering) or Chemical Engineering (with a focus on Environmental Engineering) or a related field, is preferable. However, consideration will be given to exceptional applicants with a Masters degree (in the above fields) and potential to pursue a Doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering.
- A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering or a related Environmental Engineering field.
- ADVANTAGE :
- ECSA Professional or Candidate Engineering registration.
- Evidence of teaching, research/experience, and successful higher degree supervision in Environmental Engineering.

- Support Project Developers managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for new projects, focusing on mitigating environmental risks.
