Job Purpose: Coordinate the key performance areas and result indicators associated with all new projects, planning and design, capital works programming (new electrical projects such as substations, underground cables, area lighting, conductors, low voltage services, etc.) and distribution, reticulation, including maintenance and repair activities, drafting detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts ensuring that all aspects of operation and associated processes are in compliance with project specifications and legislation (e.g. NRS 034-1:2007) and completed within planned time and budget constraints.

 Duties: Coordinate and control the investigation of reported problems experienced with projects • Make provision for preventative solutions where problems with difficult contracts are anticipated • Represent the Electrical Services Department at technical meetings to provide feedback and to obtain information of a varied nature • Manage and control the execution of electrical projects and review progress through the application of control measures Oversee the processes associated with the compilation of tender/RTQ documents • Evaluate tender/RTQ specifications to ensure that it covers the scope of the contract going on tender • Evaluate the electrical tenders/RTQ to ensure that it complies with Council’s policies Consult with the successful Tenderer on the scope and operational arrangements prior to commencement of activities on site to establish mutual agreement on procedures and timeframes • Ensure that strategically impacting meetings are attended and represented • Manage and minimize system losses to provide a sustainable service and to conserve funds on the budget • Determine the short, medium- and long-term skill requirements and needs of the Department • Motivate and evaluate subordinates’ staff to create a positive work environment • Tend to and investigate all public related requests and complaints and refer it to subordinate staff for responses and action • Coordinate projects that may influence other services with the related Departments • Liaising with external/internal bodies (ward committees, community, etc.) regarding electrical engineering project planning and design • Complete and submit applications for funding to external bodies • Manage and control all planning administrative processes of the Electrical Services Department • Approving and setting conditions to building plans, designs, and land zoning activities • Providing input to the immediate superior on operational needs for consideration during the preparation of the annual budget • Identifying electrical engineering information by categorizing, estimating and recognizing differences or similarities and detecting changes in circumstances or events in order to understand engineering data or reports, specifications, etc. and to recognize construction industry codes or symbols on blueprints necessary for the planning and design of projects • Creating electrical engineering design plans and installation drawings by hand or with computer aided design (CAD) software ensuring conformance to specifications, preparing estimates of labour costs and the amount and type of materials and drawing up timescales for the delivery of supplies and equipment • Guiding the drafting, adjudication, and reporting processes with regards to contracts/tenders/specifications and verifying that details, terms and conditions, specifications, etc. comply with laid down policies, regulations, and procedures • Participating in the appointment process and briefing parties (consultants/ contractors, etc.) on the terms and scope of such appointments and evaluating, investigating, and approving submissions on progress, performance and costs • Developing, implementing, and managing systems and procedures for the monitoring of contracts ensuring that compliance issues are resolved effectively. 


Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (NQF 6).
  • Eligible for registration as a Pr Techni Eng with the Engineering Council of SA in terms of Act 46 of 2000 and must complete required professional registration within eight (8) months period from the date of appointment.
  • 5 years relevant experience after obtaining the National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (NQF 6)
  • Valid Code B Drivers’ license.
  • li>Computer literacy (MS Office Applications, CAD & Electrical Designer). 
  • Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor Technology in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • 5 years relevant experience

    AECOM is seeking a Computational Engineering Design Specialist to assist with developing/implementing automated design workflows and tools. This role is being created within our Enterprise Capabilities Team and the successful candidate will report to the Computational Design Leader.


    This person will assist with the development /implementation of globally applicable automation tools and processes, in addition to working on design projects to further develop workflow definitions and test tools that have been created in a project production setting.


    This role in South Africa offers the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, a combination of remote and office work schedules. AECOM has offices in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, and Pretoria (Centurion).


    Job Description


    This role requires expertise in several different areas, including:

    • Expert user of digital production platforms in the domain of computational and parametric engineering design; At least one of the following technology stacks: Revit + Dynamo, Rhino + Grasshopper. Knowledge of more than one platform, including Generative Components, will be considered as a plus.
    • Creator and author of definitions using out of the box nodes tools within the defined platforms. The ability to create and maintaining custom nodes using Python and/or C# is also preferrable.
    • Parametric modelling, creation and development of smart objects (i.e.: Revit Families using adaptive components), with customisable functionality and custom-built parameters for automation
    • Digital tools deployment, ensure that development is focused on production team usage, for example, automated workflows that can be operated by Revit users using Dynamo Player or Orkestra.


    Key responsibilities:

    • Work with project teams to accurately capture the requirements of any workflow we are seeking to automate, to create a specification for the tools and content that will be required to achieve the automation aim.
    • Create and author definitions that satisfy the aims of the automation workflow, so that the tool need can be validated, and deployed in production.
    • Contribute to the creation of advanced parametric content that will be required by many of the automation tools being created.
    • Production of 3D BIM project models aligned to project specified BIM requirements using Autodesk Revit
    • In collaboration with AECOM Digital Delivery global and the Digital Engineering Leads, engage on design automation initiatives across global regions for multiple design disciplines
    • Advise and provide support for interoperability procedures between authoring software, and interfacing CAD/BIM & Analysis software packages.
    • Support the development of computational engineering standards and best practices, through non-project design technology workshops.
    • Open and willing to be flexible regarding taking on varied types of work, learn and develop new skills for digital project delivery whilst supporting the project teams with traditional deliverables.


    Qualifications


    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Computational Engineering, Engineering Design, Architecture, or Information Management, or related discipline plus at least 2-3 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Very good working knowledge of BIM Platforms complimentary to using authoring tools (i.e.: BIM360/ACC, Navisworks, ProjectWise, Revizto, etc.)
    • Proven track record of design automation experience using the required platforms.
    • Proven track record of the ability to create complex parametric content (predominantly Revit families), for use with automation tools.
    • Technical design and construction knowledge in engineering design and construction.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of any of the following will be considered favourable: Revit SDK, Dynamo SDK, Forge APIs, Rhinoceros SDK, Grasshopper SDK, RhinoInside, RhinoCompute (Hops), Bentley Connect SDK, Python, C#
    • Experience within Building, Transportation or Water/P&P design projects
    • Architecture, Engineering or Computational Design degree or similar professional education
    • Good communication skills (oral and written), and able to be an individual contributor during internal/external workshops and trainings.

    • Oversea the QC process on the receipt of all running lines
    • QC on all samples and potential new items

    • Handling consumer complaints, conducting/arranging QC checks as needed when a complaint is filed, communicating with consumers, and coordinating with the Sales/Ops team to collect or replace faulty items.

    Brand Development:

    Assist and where necessary in the execution of brand marketing plans within the new product development team.

    Support the team in unlocking brand and in-market challenges including monitoring of brand performance on a monthly and quarterly basis.

    Identify product / promotion / customer opportunities and work with cross-functional teams to execute in conjunction with Senior Management.

    Working with SILO and Graphics Team as part of a project

    Key Accounts Assistance:

    • Assisting the Key Account Executive with translation of brand and category strategies into actionable customer plans.
    • Assisting with the development and roll-out of planned Back to School orders for key customers.

    General:

    • Assistance with regional trade shows as and when necessary.
    • Assist in maintaining product show room / sample room
    • Product listings: Upload new products on supplier portals (PnP; Spar)
    • Maintain supplier Portals SOH
    • Assist Key accounts with product info when needed

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Matric
    • Degree or Diploma or similar qualification in Warehousing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Management or another relevant field

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the FMCG industry
    • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license

    Our client operates in the imports and wholesale of stationery and related products to the retail trade in Southern Africa. They are looking for an experienced Technical Product and Planning Lead / Supervisor to join their team as soon as possible.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    To assist in the coordination of procurement processes and procedures within the business as well as providing a daily support function in sales operations.

    MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Replenishment order procedure

    • Print Re-Order report per supplier
    • Evaluate stock requirement and suggest order quantity
    • Capture individual purchase orders on Hotkey
    • Create individual Excel purchase orders from Hotkey export
    • Communicate orders to China
    • Summarise price variations
    • Update purchase orders with approved price changes
    • Update PO shipping dates per SKU
    • Update Product Master with approved price changes
    • Create online/ shipping file and complete front sheet

    Shipping

    • Generate clearing instruction on receipt of shipping documentation and send clearing instruction to freight forwarding partner with relevant paperwork
    • Update shipping files with shipment and arrival dates
    • Update weekly shipping status received from SBT and evaluate Bi- weekly report
    • Maintain shipping file- Original B/L/telex release

    GRN and Data Sheets

    • Prepare Packing List for container unloading
    • Update product master with volumes
    • Update data sheets on Hotkey for new items
    • Run exception report and update Hotkey
    • System data integrity in capturing and maintaining new products on system, updating product specs and details when necessary
    • Assistance with General low stock holding reports.

    New Product Development

    Form part of the cross-function new product development team and lead new product development work stream from a technical / procurement function. This includes both development of new ranges, or refinement of existing products / ranges in the business from idea inception to OTIF delivery of product.

    • Market analysis of existing ranges or new opportunities (product / price)
    • Specking products and briefing the team in China
    • Quotation chasing and compilation for review by the team
    • RTS quotations; compare quotes, quality vs price etc.
    • Sourcing and cataloguing samples
    • Order preparation and communication with China
    • PO tracker
    • Manufacture and Shipping timing tracking
    • Conduct innovation projects or clearly defined sections of the project with minimal supervision by Procurement Manager and lead/participate in various cross-functional teams.
    • Uncover consumer insights and opportunities within the market and scope into the business and innovation roadmap.
    • Implement innovations in the marketplace and monitor performance.
    • System Data Integrity:
