The Learning Content Developer is responsible for designing and developing high-quality learning materials for various qualifications, including occupational qualifications, part qualifications, unit standard-based qualifications, and skills Programmes. This role involves creating content for both classroom-based training and virtual courses, ensuring that all learning materials align with relevant accreditation and industry standards.
DUTIES :
Design And Development of Learning Materials
- Develop comprehensive Learning Programme Frameworks that outline the learning objectives, content, and assessment criteria for each learning programme.
- Create Alignment Matrices to ensure learning materials are aligned with the curriculum for the respective qualifications.
- Prepare Learning Programme Induction / Overview Guides to introduce learners and facilitators to the programme, objectives, and expectations.
- Develop Learner Guides and Facilitator Guides for each learning unit, ensuring the material supports learners and facilitators through the learning process.
- Design Internal Formative and Summative Assessment Guides, including learner workbooks and assessor guidelines.
- Create Mock Examinations to prepare learners for final assessments.
- Develop Workplace Experience Guides and Logbooks to document learners practical experience.
- Design Facilitator PowerPoint Presentations to support training delivery.
- Collaborate and engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) throughout the learning material development cycle.
Project Planning And Scheduling
- Develop a Project Plan and Schedule for the timely development of learning materials, outlining key milestones and deadlines.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure resources are available and aligned with project timelines.
Quality Assurance And Compliance
- Ensure all learning materials comply with accreditation requirements from relevant bodies (e.g., QCTO, SETA).
- Conduct quality checks and revisions to ensure content accuracy, alignment with learning outcomes, and adherence to educational standards.
REQUIREMENTS :
Work experience and industry exposure :
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in learning material development is essential, ideally within a skills development provider environment.
- Proven experience in developing learning materials aligned with NQF and QCTO standards.
- The candidate must have proven experience in working with occupational qualifications and / or skills programmes curricula registered with the QCTO.
- Knowledge and experience within the credit, banking and debt collections industries would be advantageous.

Your opportunity:
Working within the Executive Programs Department, as the Digital Learning Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for managing the development of online course content for various programs and initiatives, building digital learning modules that provide training and support for students, staff and faculty across a wide range of topics using a variety of software, and working collaboratively with department subject matter experts to help design and develop content and ensure adherence to branding guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum
- Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs

Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

- Knowledge of online educational tools, demonstrated expertise in educational pedagogy, including experience in pedagogical principles, delivery and evaluation of online learning
- Demonstrated experience in working with faculty and staffto develop online curricular and co-curricular content
- Experience working with a range of digital learning authoring tools and learning management systems
- Good knowledge about online resources, including assessment and evaluation
- Good knowledge of industry standards and emerging trends in A/V and digital learning technology
- Demonstrated experience with video filming and editing
