Purpose of the Job

Job Objectives

Employee Centric Delivery

  • Provide input into the Learning Strategy for the portfolio as required.
  • Build effective and fit-for-purpose curriculums through ongoing stakeholder engagements (L&D Business Partners, relevant business, and People team functional areas) to extrapolate the necessary inputs.
  • Develop a roadmap of learning initiatives for the portfolio as input into the consolidated roadmap of learning initiatives in collaboration with the Divisional Training Managers.
  • Work closely with the Instructional Designers and Instructional Training Designers to bring the learning experience to life and create unique and effective experiences across the curriculum.
  • Develop a training plan for the portfolio as input into the consolidated training plan.
  • Allocate and ensure that the right resources are attached to the right curriculum and/or make the necessary changes at a curriculum level.
  • Conduct research on the skills development programs and identify trends and best practice to inform learning solution development.
  • Manage the development and implementation of learning material in alignment with the Learning Strategy for the portfolio. Managing the development of learning solutions and curriculums.
  • Managing the definition of learning solutions architecture and design.
  • Develop learning solution standards for the portfolio and support all stakeholders to understand and apply the standards as required.
  • Collaborate closely with ETQA to ensure adherence to quality assurance of learning solutions and overarching curriculum processes.
  • Evaluate the development and effectiveness of learning solutions and ensure alignment with the standards and processes
  • Manage the evaluation of learning solutions and curriculum approaches and experiences.
  • Moderate learning solutions, delivery, and feedback and ensure the process's effectiveness

People (Self, Team & Organisational)

  • Collaborate closely with the L&D team and ensure alignment of the service delivery solutions to the business.
  • Manage L&D initiatives that foster an innovative, agile, and employee-centric culture where employees are supported, empowered, and valued.
  • Participate in various L&D team activities that foster a wellness culture to ensure that the L&D team mentally, physically, and emotionally feel supported.
  • Provide input to the open and transparent culture with transparent communication within the L&D team.

Financial, Reporting & BI

  • Ensure accuracy in data input and relevant reports as applicable to the L&D team.
  • Using official data sources to inform administrative outputs.
  • Prepare and compile reports for senior management engaging the broader People team and providing inputs on the department's efficiency
  • Consolidating costs, proposals, or data as required by the L&D team or other stakeholders.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant labour relations frameworks and legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational and legislative governance frameworks and standards including the H&S requirements and POPI Act.
  • Manage the identification and mitigation of Instructional Design risks.

Future-Fit

  • Participate in the integration and effective flow of work with other service areas and businesses.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Instructional Design services.
  • Suggest or share ideas related to relevant Instructional Design technology requirements where required.

Position outputs

This position is responsible for delivering and facilitating the technical course curriculums. This includes classroom instruction, field instruction, and administering assessments. Learning Facilitation

mothers2mothers (m2m) is an African-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) that employs women living with HIV as frontline community health workers (CHWs) called Mentor Mothers and Peer Mentors, in health facilities and surrounding communities across ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa. m2m's Strategic Plan aims to address Africa's biggest health challenges towards our vision of Healthy Women, Healthy Families, Healthier World. The shortage of CHWs in sub-Saharan Africa is a mission critical barrier to achieving Universal Health Coverage and reducing health disparities. Addressing this shortage remains imperative for improving access to quality healthcare for individuals and communities. Investing in learning and development, training, mentoring, and supporting CHWs is essential for improving population-based health outcomes and addressing health inequity in sub-Saharan Africa.

Against this background, m2m is building on its 20-year track record of training more than 11,700 Peer Mentors, by embarking on a critical strategic objective over the next five years – the development and implementation of the m2m Smart Learning Solution. m2mSLS harnesses the power of innovative 21st century learning technology (i.e. personalized, adaptive, "smart" learning) of accredited curricula on the Totara Talent Experience Platform to deliver affordable, effective training and education of the sub-Saharan health workforce at scale – starting with CHWs.

Against this background, m2m seeks to recruit a skilled Learning Design Specialist to support in the operationalisation of this world-class Smart Learning Solution. The Learning Design Specialist at m2m is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Learning Design team. In this respect, m2m seeks a candidate for this role who possesses excellent skills in managing teams and stakeholders, along with a proven understanding of, and track record in executing, the most current concepts in smart learning. Leadership and Management:

  • Manage quality assurance processes, and work on evaluation strategies to review the effectiveness of learning design strategy.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices, benchmark against competitors, and continuously evolve the quality standards based on market trends.
  • Oversee management of the asset tracking process, ensuring that all resources and content are accounted for.
  • Oversee royalty payments as applicable.

Project Management:

  • Initiate planning processes for course evaluations and new course / curriculum development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Provide guidance to managers on training requests.

  • Collaborate with content experts to adapt literacy training.
  • Localize training materials for use across provinces.

  • Keep all training resources current, organized, and centrally accessible.
  • Drive accreditation processes for training courses.
  • Innovate with multimedia and digital learning content.

Stakeholder Training Delivery

  • Facilitate workshops for community reading club leaders and literacy activists.
  • Train Department of Education officials and partner NGOs.
  • Support Provincial Coordinators with provincial training rollouts.
  • Deliver training-of-trainers sessions.
  • Provide post-training coaching and mentoring.
  • Adapt delivery methods to suit community contexts.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure inclusiveness and accessibility in training delivery.

Training Quality Assurance, Impact Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor delivery of training sessions for quality and consistency.

  • Track participation and outcomes using standardized tools.
  • Conduct regular reviews of training effectiveness.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement based on evidence.
  • Share learnings with Head of Programmes, Impact and Partnerships and Programme managers.
  • Maintain compliance with donor and partner reporting requirements.
  • Present training outcomes to the Leadership team.
  • Ensure alignment between internal HR L&D and external capacity building.

Requirements (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Education, Training & Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years' experience in an L&D, Training Specialist, or Capacity Building role.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in at least one additional South African language an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems advantageous

Job Summary
Performs responsible supervisory work educating, testing, and coaching new hires to a specified account using curricula and materials specialized to a particular account. Direct supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel.

  • Conducts new hire, program revision and remedial training following instructional guides
  • Evaluates trainee performance
  • Provides written evaluations of employee performance to management as required
  • Maintains positive, consistent communication with departments and corporate staff
  • Reports on progress of assigned projects to Training Manager
  • Maintains ongoing dialogue with department heads as needed
  • Maintains accurate training records

Other Related Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Possession of a High School Degree, GED or other equivalent education; Associates degree preferred
  • Two (2) years' experience in training and/or customer call center experience

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning techniques and best practices in training delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specific account provisions, products, and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
