About the Opportunity
As a Technical Pre-Sales Consultant – Mine Planning, you will report to the Operations Manager and will be based in our Bryanston office in Johannesburg. Your primary responsibility is to support the Business Development team in driving the adoption of Micromine’s mine planning solutions across the region. This includes delivering high-quality technical pre-sales activities such as product demonstrations, proof-of-concept model builds, software evaluations, and onboarding support.
The role plays a key part in engaging with clients to understand their operational needs and in showcasing how Micromine’s solutions can deliver real value across their mine planning workflows. You will act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, supporting successful solution design and adoption.
This role will be supported by our global product and development teams and requires a strong technical foundation in mine planning systems as well as excellent presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Sales Support : Deliver high-impact product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical input for tenders and proposals.
- Client Engagement : Work closely with Business Development Managers to understand customer needs and support solution selling.
- Customer Success : Guide clients during software implementation to ensure effective adoption and satisfaction.
- Training Delivery : Conduct user training sessions for clients and internal teams, both on-site and remotely.
- Product Feedback : Act as the link between customers and the Product Development team, providing technical feedback and participating in testing.
- Technical Support : Offer technical assistance across channels, troubleshoot issues, and document key interactions in CRM.
- Other Duties : Contribute to promotions, conferences, software testing, and regional travel as required.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline.
- At least 7+ years’ experience with mine planning systems – including implementation, support, or pre-sales roles.
- Minimum 2 years’ operational mine site experience.
- Strong technical understanding of mining workflows and planning challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
- Confidence in delivering product presentations and training sessions.
- A passion for new technology and continuous learning.
Experience in scripting or automation within mine planning software will be an advantage.
