We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and associated automation equipment to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain PLC-based control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in PLC hardware, software, instrumentation, and control circuits.
  • Modify and update PLC programs to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up of new equipment and production systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Conduct system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma, Certificate, or Trade Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 35 years of experience working with PLC systems in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, water, or utilities environment.
  • Practical experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, or similar.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and automation systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's licence.

An excellent opportunity exists for a technically strong and hands-on PLC TECHNICIAN to join a large-scale industrial plant expansion and installation project within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • The successful candidate will be involved in industrial electrical and automation installations, commissioning, fault finding, shutdown support, plant upgrades, refurbishment work, and ongoing process optimisation within a heavy industrial operation.
  • This role requires a practical and solutions-driven technician capable of working closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Engineering teams during commissioning and operational startup phases.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, commission, test, and fault-find PLC and automation systems.
  • Assist with industrial plant installations, upgrades, refurbishments, and shutdown work.
  • Perform fault-finding on PLC-controlled production and process equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and control diagrams.
  • Assist with MCC installations, motor control systems, VSDs, instrumentation, and control circuits.
  • Configure and troubleshoot HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Conduct I/O testing, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
  • Support breakdown maintenance and plant optimisation activities.
  • Assist with electrical panel inspections and modifications.
  • Work closely with project engineers, contractors, electricians, and maintenance teams.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, lockout procedures, and project requirements.
  • Provide technical support during startup and production integration phases.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning documentation and technical reports.
