The Role: Duty Manager

The main purpose of the job is to manage the day-to-day cargo operations by allocating resources to the movement of freight within the Air Cargo network. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure inspections are carried out daily to determine the effectiveness of equipment and manage the completion of daily warehouse equipment checklists.

  • Compile and submit monthly rosters according to regulated hours, schedule employees for regulated training, and track employee time, attendance, and discipline.

  • Conduct daily briefings with staff, compile daily shift reports, monitor that cargo is processed correctly and meets acceptance criteria, and manage the handover process between shifts.

  • Maintain the general cleanliness of the branch, including acceptance areas, back operations, and warehouse areas.

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in the Airline or Freight industry is a must.

  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent NQF Level 5.

  • Functional training in Customer Service Training, Report Writing, Discipline in the workplace, Supervisory/Management Training, and Winfreight Operations and Finance.

  • Regulated training in Dangerous Goods Category 6, AVSEC level 3, Airside Induction training, Live Animals Regulations Training, Lithium Ion Batteries, Infectious Substances, Perishable Cargo, Human Factors Training, and Safety Management Systems training.

  • Valid Driver's License and own transport.

  • Prepare professional, clear, and complete quotations for submission to clients and clarify technical queries.

  • Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to compare quotes.

  • Maintain a database of historical costs, supplier pricing, and previous quotations.

  • Support the handover of awarded orders to the projects team.

About You

  • 35 years of experience in estimating in Crane manufacturing, Structural steel, or Heavy engineering.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with estimating and ERP software.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • Good communication and professional writing ability.

  • Ability to manage multiple RFQs under time pressure.

  • Commercial awareness and cost sensitivity.

  • Experience with Cranes or lifting equipment.
