About the Role

As the Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the business direction through financial strategy, planning, and risk management. Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Financial Leadership : Participate in leadership team discussions and provide financial insights to guide company strategy.
• Financial Accounting & Controls : Ensure compliance with IFRS, implement internal controls, and oversee financial record accuracy.
• Financial Planning & Budgeting : Develop, coordinate, and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Risk Management & Compliance : Maintain risk registers, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee insurance policies.
• Treasury & Cash Flow Management : Optimize liquidity across multiple entities, manage funding strategies, and maintain banking relationships.
• Tax & Audit Management : Ensure compliance with tax regulations, manage audits, and implement tax planning strategies.
• Asset & Capital Management : Oversee capital expenditure processes, manage company assets, and track capital spending.
• Team Leadership : Lead and mentor the finance team to enhance performance and ensure operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CIMA, CA(SA), ACCA preferred).
• Experience : Proven track record in a senior finance role, ideally in a complex business environment.
• Skills : Strong analytical abilities, leadership skills, and proficiency in financial reporting tools.
• Regulatory Knowledge : In-depth understanding of IFRS, tax laws, and compliance regulations.

Our client is a leading manufacturer based in Hammarsdale, KZN, and they are looking for a qualified and experienced Financial Manager to oversee all financial and strategic planning functions of the business.

This role requires a hands-on, commercially aware finance professional who can lead operational finance, ensure compliance, and contribute to key business decisions alongside the executive team.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial forecasts
• Drive annual budgeting processes and cost management initiatives
• Liaise with auditors, financial institutions, and the global finance team
• Manage cash flow, credit controls, and statutory compliance
• Oversee IT-related spend and infrastructure in collaboration with the group
• Ensure legal compliance (SARS, CIPC, COID, UIF) and corporate governance
• Support procurement, stock, and inventory cost integration
• Oversee payroll in collaboration with HR

Profile we’re looking for:

• CA(SA) or CIMA qualification
• 2–3 years post-articles experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
• Strong ERP and systems proficiency
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting skills
• Strong leadership and team development experience
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when needed

• B.Com essential.
• CA (SA), a strong advantage.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years in financial management environment.
• Experience in Consumer Products or FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) environment, an added advantage.

• Prepare and process all non-system journal entries.
• Intercompany process for the mill.
• Prepare sub-ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and perform balance sheet variance analysis for month end actuals
• Timeous and accurate response to all matters raised regarding general ledger close.
• Generate the final trial balance and upload approved trial balance to Cognos.
• Prepare COAP with balance sheet notes.
• Ensure full compliance with the Companies Act and relevant IFRS’s.
• Prepare year end reporting pack.
• Prepare the tax pack.
• Respond to audit inquiries timeously.
• Weekly cash count.
• Responsible for capitalisation (additions), disposal and depreciation of fixed assets.
• Manage the interim and final external audit FCFQ reporting process while ensuring that internal controls per FCFQ are in place and effective.
• Drive month end performance discussion meetings to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent reoccurrences of inefficient processes.
• Drive internal control improvement within the operational site.
• Ensure that the talent management system is adhered to in terms of own performance contract and personal development plan as required.
