Leading R&D firm requires mechanical engineer. Design mechanical machines and components.

What the person must be able to do:

1. Execute all job tasks in a cutting-edge mechanical design environment.
2. Design industrial parts for machines and highly sophisticated tooling.
3. Exposure to CAD Design, Finite Element Analysis, and Mechanical Simulation.
4. Design of mechanical machines and components (May be electronically controlled)
5. Design of industrial processing machines and components (e.g. A smelter or a Water Filtration Machine)
6. Draft sophisticated CNC diagrams in CAD software
7. Create simple and complex geometric designs in multiple dimensions
8. Use 3D Simulation Software
9. Perform design calculations from first principles includes FEA calculations
10. Component wear and tear, maintenance and failure analysis
11. Technical guidance on appropriate component materials
12. Product Innovation
13. Technical Innovation and coming up with unique design solutions
14. Full product Research and Development
15. Project Management of development projects from concept phase through to production and implementation in the field
16. Project Documentation eg. Development Process Plans, Engineering Reports, Engineering Change Procedures, Engineering Drawings.

Key Job Deliverables:

1. Revenue income from new products.
2. Innovative designs and solutions.
3. Engineering project completion on time with high quality standards

Background work experience
3+ years experience in mechanical design and development (Preference 5+ years)
Extensive exposure to mechanical component design for industrial machinery and processes
Experience utilising CAD Software such as Pro Engineer or equivalent
BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering Preferred (N Dips with extensive practical experience can apply)
3+ years’ experience working in an organisation that designs, develops, manufactures and supports mechanical products
ECSA Professional Registration strongly advantageous

Reports to: Head Mechanical Design

Location: Alberton

Salary: R400K to R600K per annum negotiable. Dependent on experience. More senior candidates can also apply.
