PURPOSE
OF THE POSITION
The organisation wishes to appoint an
experienced Fundraising Manager with excellent leadership skills and
networking abilities. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for
building good relationships with prospective donors and partners
across multiple sectors, communicating with the broader public and
internal teams, delegating tasks, and drawing up plans to ensure
annual fundraising targets are met. The Fundraising Manager will
further assist the CEO in identifying donor and grant resources,
raising funds and writing proposals for long-term organisational
sustainability. This role reports to the CEO.
KEY
PERFORMANCE AREAS
You will be responsible for driving a
successful strategy that encourages individuals and organisations to
make contributions to projects within SST. The focus of this position
is to build a solid and diversified foundation of corporate donors,
organise sponsorships, events, crowdfunding, encourage bequests, and
identify and unlock other fundraising opportunities (both ringfenced
and un-ringfenced) to grow the organisation’s funding-base to support
strategic conservation priorities. S/he will further work closely with
the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure the organisation’s
fundraising tactics have gravitas and credibility, and are delivered
in a timely, cohesive manner to give all partners, supporters and
funders the best possible experience and value.
Key
Deliverables include but are not limited to:
- Operationalise the comprehensive business development and fundraising strategy (annual and 3-year strategies, including clear M&E framework of funding targets for both individual and corporate giving; grants; e-commerce; crowdfunding project, etc.)
- Manage the annual fundraising budget, with month-by-month income and expenditure forecasts per program.
- Develop and maintain the supporting database development and ensure robust data health.
- Ensure organisational fundraising policies and procedures are kept current and up to date.
SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
- At least seven (7) years’ proven experience in sales and/or fundraising.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to drive income growth, preferably in environmental and conservation NGO sector.
- Experience in delivering on financial outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in web strategy and ability to work with fundraising data, extractions for programs and reports for insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both written and spoken English, with the ability to copywrite and edit.
- Demonstrated project management and organisational skills, financial acumen, and leadership skills with a clear ability to inspire trust and teamwork.
- Valid driver’s license essential. Must be comfortable driving alone.
- Well organised and proactive.
- Able to inspire those around them.
- Well-informed on marketing strategies.
- Comfortable undertaking research on different sectors to support the long-term fundraising and communications strategy.
- In possession of sharp public speaking skills and able to deliver presentations to a range of audiences.
- SA Citizen with clear criminal history.
Location: Remote working or office-based
Duration: Full-time 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential to renew for an additional 3 years.
Commencement date: As soon as possible.
