Environmental Manager – Oil & Gas

 

Our client based in Johannesburg , is urgently on the lookout for a strong Environmental Manager within the Oil & Energy industry to provide technical & legal advice , guidance relating to all Environmental regulations , whist managing a team of Environmental Specialists .

  

Requirements:

 

  • Provide expert technical consultation on environmental matters throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Review and interpret environmental regulations to ensure compliance and enhance performance.
  • Develop and implement environmental programs aligned with company objectives.
  • Obtain permits and authorizations for waste management, emissions, and remediation activities.
  • Monitor proposed legislation and contribute to shaping industry regulations.
  • Represent the company at industry meetings and hearings, engaging with stakeholders.
  • Assist in negotiating environmental issues with authorities and third parties.
  • Mentor HES Field Specialists and provide environmental training.
  • Track and analyze waste trends to identify waste reduction opportunities.
  • Handle complaints and provide feedback to the public and relevant authorities.
  • Monitor refinery compliance with permit conditions.
  • Coordinate groundwater monitoring and hazardous assessments.
  • Evaluate proposals and reports from consultants.
  • Conduct plant surveys and air monitoring.
  • Investigate environmental transgressions and raise awareness.
  • Manage a team of Environmental Specialists, providing leadership and support.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee program execution, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations.
  • Prepare and present environmental reports to senior management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and community groups.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Provide guidance during emergency response situations.
  • Manage the environmental budget and optimize costs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development.
  • Represent the company during internal and external audits.
  • Foster positive relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and communities.

 

Minimum Requirements :

 

  • 8 +Years Experience in Petrochemical/oil & energy environment
  • At least 3 + Years experience in a Managerial Capacity
  • B.Sc Eng or B Eng , Environmental Science
  • Registered as at ECSA
  • Advanced computer and numeracy skills & analytical skills
