• Agricultural Diploma / Degree (Animal Production, Livestock or similar) preferred.
• At least 2 years practical experience in intensive livestock farming (piggery experience advantageous).
• Proven practical maintenance skills (e.g. plumbing, welding, fencing, irrigation, equipment and infrastructure repairs).
• Valid Code 10 or 14 drivers licence with PDP.
• Physically fit, reliable, organised, and comfortable working with pigs in an intensive farm environment.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays on a roster, and to respond to urgent maintenance or animal‑welfare issues after hours when required.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance Duties

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on farm equipment and facilities.
• Assist with electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, pumps, motors, ventilation systems, and other farm equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and effectively.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in good working order.
• Assist with general repairs, plumbing, welding, and other maintenance tasks as required.

Farm Duties

• Assist with the daily operations of the Farrow-to-Wean unit.
• Support animal care activities, including feeding, monitoring animal health, and maintaining cleanliness of facilities.
• Assist with the movement and handling of pigs when required.
• Ensure biosecurity and hygiene protocols are adhered to at all times.
• Support the farm management team during busy operational periods.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in a maintenance-related role.
• Strong electrical maintenance knowledge and practical experience.
• Basic fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely.
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Physically fit and willing to work in a farming environment.
• Willingness to assist with both maintenance and livestock-related duties.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Requirements

• Previous experience in an agricultural or farming environment.
• Exposure to piggery operations or livestock farming.
• Basic welding, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance skills.
• Relevant technical qualification in electrical maintenance or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tiling repairs and installations as required.
• Carry out basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain gardens and outdoor areas, including general landscaping duties.
• Conduct routine property inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
• Attend to general building maintenance and minor repair work.
• Coordinate and prioritise maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion.
• Respond to emergency maintenance call-outs when required.
• Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
• Report maintenance issues and completed work to management.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' relevant maintenance experience .
• Practical experience in:
  • Tiling
  • Basic plumbing
  • Gardening and grounds maintenance
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual maintenance tasks.
• Must be willing and available to participate in an after-hours call-out roster .

• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy carcasses, boxes and products during loading and deliveries.

• Able and willing to work in a cold environment and in an abattoir setting.

• Willing to work early mornings, Saturdays and public holidays as required by operations.

• Willing to travel locally with the driver and assist with customer deliveries.

• Previous experience in an abattoir, butchery, meat-processing, dispatch or delivery environment will be an advantage.

• Reliable, punctual and committed to attendance.

• Able to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Attention to detail when checking products, labels, quantities and delivery paperwork.

• Team player with a positive, cooperative attitude.

• Able to deal with customers professionally during deliveries.
