Job Description
The role ensures that portfolios, investment managers, and investment structures remain aligned with regulatory requirements, governance standards, and internal investment monitoring frameworks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct periodic and ad-hoc investment monitoring reviews across discretionary, licensee-directed and member-directed portfolios.
- Identify performance, risk, governance or structural issues and manage follow-up actions including escalation where required.
- Monitor portfolio asset allocation and suitability, including cash levels and risk alignment. Review non-standard and complex investments for permissibility and suitability.
- Support investment governance through maintenance of policies, procedures, benchmarks and monitoring frameworks.
- Undertake corporate pension and fund reviews, including fund analysis, platform assessments and recommendations.
- Monitor investment service providers, assessing performance, operational risk and service quality.
- Prepare analysis and recommendations for the Investment Committee and attend client, adviser and trustee meetings where required.
- Act as a B-signatory and provide technical investment support across the business.
Competencies:
- Strong experience in investment monitoring, portfolio oversight or investment governance.
- Sound understanding of pensions, trust structures and relevant regulatory and fiduciary requirements.
- Proven ability to analyse complex investment information and exercise sound judgement.
- Confident communicator, able to engage with internal committees, clients and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised, detail-focused and committed to strong governance and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Ideally a degree level qualification in Finance, Investment, Economics, Business or a related field. Advanced degrees (CFA, MBA) are desirable.
